Betsy Washburn

Betsy Washburn

Owner and Center Director
Betsy grew up in Glendale, Arizona, and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business Management from Arizona State University. In 1995, Betsy moved to Southeast Missouri where she obtained her teaching certificate and began teaching junior high and high school mathematics. Betsy has 11 years classroom experience in teaching mathematics and has a passion for helping students find success in math. Betsy has also earned a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governor’s University. While in Kansas City, Missouri, Betsy was lucky to be the Center Director for Mathnasium of Blue Valley, a very successful center in Overland Park, KS. This experience fueled a strong passion for the Mathnasium method and helping students make sense of math. Betsy has two grown children, Cole and Riley. They, as a family, recently returned to the Phoenix area and love it. In her spare time, Betsy loves to read, travel, spend time with her family.

Tammie Yoakum

Hello, my name is Tammie Yoakum, and I grew up in Glendale with my sister/co-owner, Betsy. Before I started working in the center full time, I had a 30-year career in the premium finance industry. I was blessed to have that career, but Mathnasium is a ton more fun. The best part of being at Mathnasium is to see the "aha" moments and to see a students confidence grow. When I'm not working, I like spending time with my family and friends. I also love music, movies, reading and traveling.

Mary Savidge

Hello, my name is Mary Savidge. I am a retired Math teacher. I love Math and how logical it is. I love children and watching them figure things out. Mathnasium combines both of those and I am grateful to be the Assistant Director and instructor. The atmosphere at the Mathnasium center is positive, fun, and exciting. A perfect learning environment.

Adam Gramlich

Hello! My name is Adam, and I am currently a junior at Pinnacle High School. Math has always been my favorite subject in school, and my experience with Mathnasium dates back to when I entered the first grade. They provided enrichment opportunity for me and help for my sister, so I am very excited to be a part of connecting other students to that experience as well. Outside of school, I enjoy playing video games, hanging out with friends, and playing basketball either through Pinnacle or through the Southwest Rebels PBA.

Vipul Gupta

Hello I am Vipul Gupta, and I am currently freshman at Arizona State University. My first encounter with Mathnasium was actually as a student and I can confidently say the instructors are some of the most caring and knowledgeable people you will ever meet. I love knowing that I have a part in a student’s new found confidence and understanding. I like watching movies and making scale models in my free time.

Sareena Gupta

Hi! My name is Sareena Gupta, and I am a Junior at Pinnacle High School. I have always loved math and science, especially Algebra. My first experience at Mathnasium was as a student, and I loved the positive energy and kindness of everyone at the center. I hope to help students feel more confident and secure in their math skills. I also love to do drama, choir and musical theatre as well as bake in my free time!

Vriddhi Rohila

Hi, my name is Vriddhi Rohila, but I go by Vivi! I was previously a student at Mathnasium, but now I'm an instructor. I'm a sophomore at Paradise Valley High School. Math has always been my strongest subject, and I really enjoy it. I enjoy spending my free time outside and listening to music.

Daniel Quan

Hello! I'm Daniel Quan and I am enrolled in the dual enrollment program at Arizona Christian University studying to be a chiropractor. Some of my extracurricular activities include speaking and debating competitively, and teaching private flute lessons. In my free time I love to exercise, play basketball and swim. I have a passion for math and I joined Mathnasium to share hat passion with others.

Hi, I’m Bryson Carlson! I am a student at Pinnacle High school. I’ve always found math to be very fascinating and engaging. Teaching has been very fulfilling to me. In my free time, I do Track and Field for Pinnacle as well as volunteering, playing instruments, and other extracurriculars through Pinnacle.

Hello! My name is Lexi Boeder. I am a Sophomore at Pinnacle High School. I have always loved math, but more than anything I have always loved being with kids. I decided to join the Mathnasium team because I thought it would be a fun way to spend time with kids while improving their math skills (and my own). At Pinnacle I am very involved in Choir and I am on the Student Board responsible for launching Pinnacle’s first Show Choir. Additionally, I have an insatiable passion for reading books.

I'm very passionate about fundamental and object-based learning, and I hope to share my expertise through becoming a Mathnasium tutor. Hello! My name is Shubham Kale, and I am currently a sophomore at Paradise Valley High School. Ever since I was just a little kid, I always had a passion for math, and teaching in general, as I have participated in many math competitions. I hope to help students improve at math and develop a passion for it, the same way I did. Outside of Mathnasium, I enjoy playing basketball, chess, playing with my dog, and hanging out with my family!

Hey, my name is Aris Rajwani and I’m a sophomore at Pinnacle High school. I have always loved math and before becoming an instructor, I was actually a student here! The feeling I experienced every time I entered was incredible as I felt it was a second home. In my free time, I play basketball and the drums.

Jazlyn Sandhu

Hello, my name is Jazlyn and I'm currently a sophomore at Desert Mountain High School. Math has always been my favorite subject and I am so excited to pass my knowledge onto Mathnasium students! I have participated in several math competitions and am a member of my school's Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society. In my free time, I like to practice guitar, play tennis, and paint.

Anagha Vippagunta

Hey there! My name is Anagha, and I’m a student of BASIS Scottsdale. Math has always been my passion because it is THE universal truth – a language that everyone has the potential to speak and understand. It is used everywhere in our daily lives, and my favorite part about math is that there is always a specific solution and so many ways to achieve that solution. I love teaching and I have been tutoring math since I was in fifth grade. Mathnasium combines my passion for math and my love of teaching in an encouraging and positive environment for students, and it gives me great happiness to spread the love of Math among my students. In my free time, I enjoy solving super complicated math problems, reading, sketching portraits, playing volleyball, and creating music.

Hi, my. name is Viren Ramakrishna and I'm a junior at Scottsdale Prep. Ever since I was little, I have always loved math. I hope I can help students feel more confident in their understanding of math, and help them love math. In my free time, I run Cross Country and Track and Field for my school. I love listening to music and hanging out with my friends, family and my dog.

Hello! My name is Nikhil Puttamraju and I am currently a freshman at Paradise Valley High School’s CREST Bioscience program. Math has always been my favorite subject, and my strongest one as well. I participated in many math competitions and have joined math clubs. I enjoy math, especially Algebra, because it feels like a puzzle, manipulating numbers and letters to find a solution. I hope to help students also feel that same love of mathematics. Outside of math, I love to read, play the piano, and am a member of many extracurriculars at school.

Hi, my name is Naitik and I am a Senior at BASIS Phoenix. I love teaching students and helping them grow in their math skills to further advance them through life and grow as a person. I love volunteering and helping other people and Mathnasium has given me an opportunity to express that to the younger generation. Some interests I have are playing tennis, playing the trombone for 7 years, running marathons and swimming.

Tochu Anyigbo

Hello - My name is Tochukwu Anyigbo and I am a senior at Arizona State University majoring in Materials Science and Engineering. I currently serve as Vice President of Material Advantage (student organization) and previously held the role of Co-Vice President of Black Engineers during the academic year 2022/2023. With a passion for mathematics and a commitment to teaching, I bring a blend of research and industry experience, along with a background in tutoring. Currently, I contribute as an undergraduate teaching assistant at ASU.

Adhyyan Ranjan

Hello! I am Adhyyan Ranjan, a freshman at Paradise Valley High School in the CREST Bioscience. I love to play soccer, and used to play club when I was younger. The other sport I love to play is Cricket, though I have never played in a club, just with my friends. Apart from sports, I love to read, watch movies, bike, and have recently gotten into writing. I wanted to work for Mathnasium for a variety of reasons. First, I have a desire to help people, and saw tutoring as an opportunity to do so. I also hope to build responsibility skills as well as hopefully leadership skills. Finally, this is a good experience for me and can help me make personal connections.

Hello , my name is Reagan Clark. I am a junior in high school attending Pinnacle High School. I love skateboarding, playing the bass guitar and teaching math.

I'm Aanya Sreekumar. I'm a freshman in high school taking advanced math. I enjoy math and teaching kids. In my free time, I like to listen to music, dance and spend time with family and friends.
