Bon Chau, Center Director
Bon is the Center Director at Mathnasium of Glendora. Bon has been center director for more than 6 years, understanding well in Mathnasium Method and experienced in teaching the students in the way that makes sense to them. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from UCLA, in which it provided a solid foundation on the math skills. He has taught and tutored over a hundred of students of all ages, and he is committed to bringing the math skills to his students by using a unique combination of mental, verbal, visual, tactile and written techniques. He also spends time with each student to find out his/her best learning style (Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic).
Working in Mathnasium since 2011, Bon found this as a perfect place to fulfill his goal of teaching math to children and reach out to the local communities in Glendora and the surrounding area.
Besides teaching, Bon also has different kinds of hobbies such as photography, biking, guitar, etc. He is also one of the advisor in the College Fellowship in his church, First Chinese Baptist Church Los Angeles. He was recently married to his lovely wife, Athena.
Cynthia Medina, Assistant Center Director
Cynthia is a recent graduate of Azusa Pacific University. She majored in Business Economics with a minor in Mathematics. She hopes to soon get a master’s degree in education and teaching credential. She enjoys working with kids and is passionate about the difference she can make in their lives.
Marian Abboud, Assistant Center Director
Marian graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a Bachelor of Arts in social work and international studies. She has experience working with students of all ages as a private tutor, a volunteer for School on Wheels, and an intern for the Long Beach Unified School District. Marian hopes to instill her passion for education in all our Mathnasium students.
Alcira Terrazas, Lead Instructor
Alcira is a Chemical Engineering major at Cal Poly Pomona. Her favorite subjects are math and chemistry. In her free time she enjoys hiking and reading.
Evan Arnold, Instructor
Evan is a graduate of Westmont College, and former valedictorian of Glendora High School. Born and raised in Glendora, Evan finds the surrounding community to be profound advocates of education. As an avid math enthusiast, Evan hopes to instill a lifetime love of learning in mathnasium's attendees.
Joshua Kiernan, Instructor
Joshua join our team last year in 2016. He is currently studying as a Mathematics major at Cal Poly Pomona, with plans to get a master's degree in education. He has always been passionate about making math accessible and fun for all students.
Kara Rotunno, Instructor
Kara graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and is currently pursuing her teaching credential at Cal State Fullerton. She is passionate about helping students improve their math skills and develop an appreciation for math. She has experience tutoring students in math levels ranging from kindergarten through college. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking and riding her bike.
Eduardo Guillen, Instructor
Eduardo is currently studying Chemical Engineering with minors in Materials Engineering and Chemistry. He is also planning to get a master's degree in Materials Engineering at Cal Poly Pomona. He previously tutored and taught golf to students of all ages. In his free time, he likes to spend on golfing and exploring the world.
Jun Kim, Instructor
Jun is currently a third-year nursing student at Azusa Pacific University. He has experience as a tutor several different math tutoring programs including the local Azusa High School. On his free time, Jun enjoys going on road trips as well as hiking and camping.
Gilbert Laim, Instructor
Gilbert graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Mathematics and Microbiology. He is currently pursuing a Master’s in Clinical and Regulatory Affairs at Keck Graduate Institute. He has experience working with students as an instructor at Spartan College of Aeronautics, where he taught basic math and physics concepts. He has always enjoyed solving math problems since he was a kid and hopes to show students that math can be fun. In his free time, he enjoys watching movies, staying active, and eating all sorts of different foods.
