Dave St.Leger, Instructor/Center Director/Owner
Dave grew up in Chicago and earned a BSEE with a minor in math from N.I.U. He did post-graduate work at FAU in Florida where he worked at Motorola for many years at several locations as an engineer, product & design manager, & technical sales account manager. He later worked at Broadcom Corp in business development & executive account sales.
An avid sports fan and participant since childhood, Dave has coached many kids (and adults) in several sports. He has been involved in tutoring since high school at Brother Rice in Chicago and loves working with kids of all ages. He has a sincere interest in mathematics and especially in helping kids to be as successful as they can be at math and in life.
"I love math and working with kids. I believe that EVERY child has the chance to be amazingly successful if given the right opportunity and instruction. Mathnasium has the tools and instructors to help make math success possible for every child who is able and willing to take that first step. I'm proud to be able to offer our services to our community kids and young adults. It's a great program that really, really works ."
Dave lives in Johnsburg with his wife, two boys, and a very playful golden retriever. He has many interests and, along with his wife, shares a significant interest in the musical development of their sons as they pursue their passion for playing and performing Jazz. He believes that McHenry County is a great place to live and raise a family and he's very excited about being able to give back to the community through Mathnasium.
Gabe McKenna, Instructor
Ben Orkild, Senior Instructor
Ben attends Richmond-Burton Community High School and is on the Math and WYSE, both of which have had great success thus far.
While he is not doing math, Ben can be found in the band room practicing his saxophone, or playing football on the varsity high school team. After high school, Ben hopes to study Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech.
Ben is enjoying his Senior year and all of the fun and challenges that are coming his way in football, band (saxophone especially!), the WYSE team (he has many interests there!) and, yes, you guessed it- MATH!
Outside of school, Ben enjoys camping, watching professional sports, and swimming.

A+bout our Instructors
- They are all very good at math (and many other subjects as well).
- They all love working with kids.
- They receive on-the-job training both "live" and on-line after they start working (having fun!) at Mathnasium. We all continue to learn and grow with each new student and new challenge.
- They are all great additions to and a part of our ever-growing nationwide team of outstanding Mathnasium instructors. They rock!!
- Before we all loved math we liked it a lot! Some of us even struggled (actually all of us did at some point!)
- All of us are musical in some way...music and math, like chocolate and peanut butter!
- We only break from teaching math to learning more of it- and there is a LOT to learn!
- We all love animals: some are cat people, some are dog folk...which are you?
- We all actually have a sense of humor- especially math humor. Is there anything funnier than a good math joke??
