Paul and Lisa Anderson

Owners

Hello, we are Lisa and Paul and we embarked on this journey as Mathnasium of Ladera Ranch owners almost 7 years ago and we are excited how many students have enjoyed learning math. We are looking forward to the future mathletes we will meet and teach! Lisa has always had a passion for math education which led her to Mathnasium over 10 years ago, working as a Director for other Mathnasium centers in South Orange County. Lisa has a B.S. degree in Business Management from San Diego State University and worked in the computer manufacturing field for over 10 years as a Materials Manager. Paul has a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from UCLA. He has 30+ years of professional experience in Engineering and Computer Science. They are the proud parents of 2 children who were educated in CUSD, and are graduates of SDSU and USC.

Hi, I'm Claire and I'm a graduate of California State University, Fullerton with a degree in Child and Adolescent Development and a minor in Mathematics and Business Administration. I am no stranger to tutoring, as I've been a tutor since my freshman year of high school. I've always had a knack for mathematics and love helping people out and really enjoy working with kids. Outside of school and work, I can be found working out at a gym or dance studio, traveling, walking around Disneyland, hanging out at the beach, trying trendy new foods and drinks, or my personal favorite, lying in my bed using Netflix.

Noel

Hi, I'm Noel and I'm a graduate from California State University, Fullerton with a B.A. in Psychology. Outside the center, I am a tutor for the AVID program at Troy High School. I enjoy guiding students to solve problems, to think outside the box, and to strengthen their math skills. I aspire to become a high school math teacher in the future. In my free time, I enjoy taking film photography, making various crafts, dancing to hip hop and K-pop, decorating my bedroom, and solving puzzles.

Carol

Hi, I'm Carol and I'm a graduate of Tesoro High School and am currently in my second year at UCLA studying biochemistry. At Tesoro, I played basketball and was involved in several clubs, like Red Cross. I tutored students throughout high school and I love helping others reach their "aha!" moment. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends, going to the beach, playing basketball, camping, and trying new things. And of course, I love math!

Hi, I'm Blake and I'm a senior at San Juan Hills High School and have been tutoring since 7th grade. I have always enjoyed math and even attended Mathnasium as a student in elementary and middle school to learn more math. In my free time, I enjoy playing basketball, hanging out with friends, and photography. I love to help students with math, as many concepts are applicable in everyday life.

Cyrus

Hi, I'm Cyrus and I’m a freshman at Saddleback College, with hopes to transfer to UCI to pursue a degree in Biomedical Engineering. I have taken AP Physics (Mechanics) and AP Calculus BC and am planning to take Linear Algebra and Differential Equations in college. I enjoy helping students understand the reason why math works the way it does, because I believe it takes their understanding of math to a completely new level. I love the puzzles of math and science and find the many connections between them super fascinating! Outside of school, you’ll find me practicing violin and hanging out with my friends.

Hi, I’m Kiana and I am studying to become a nurse at Saddleback College so I can help others. I love math and it is my passion to encourage students and walk alongside them when they struggle till they understand and conquer the topic. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with friends, playing sports, baking, surfing, and watching Netflix!

Hello there! My name is Evan and I'm currently a senior at Capistrano Valley High School. Throughout high school I have also been dedicated to band and CSF. Though I'm not entirely decided yet, after graduating in 2024 I hope to evantually pursue a graduate degree related to Biotechnology.

Hi, I’m Arjun and I am a senior at Capistrano Valley High School. At CVHS, I am in the Academy of Math, Technology, and Science. Statistics is my favorite form of math, as it is so useful in everyday life. In high school, I play basketball and am also a member of many clubs, such as NHS and MUN. When I have free time, I enjoy spending time with friends, going to the beach, listening to music, or watching sports. After graduating, I hope to pursue a degree in engineering.

Hi, I am Gavin Westman and I am a senior at Mission Viejo High School. Ever since I was young I have enjoyed the physical sciences and math. I am currently in my second year of physics and will pursue it as my major in college. In my free time, you can usually find me enjoying a good science book, driving around, or hanging out with my family!

Hi, I’m Laili and I’m a senior at Tesoro High School. At school, I’ve taken every math course up to AP Calculus BC and am currently taking AP Statistics. Along with my love for math, I enjoy being a part of my school’s chamber orchestra, tennis team, and NHS. I also play piano and find music theory and math very similar, hence why they’re my two favorite subjects! In my free time, I love going to the beach, cooking/baking, and hanging out with my friends and family.

Braxton

Hi, my name is Braxton and I am a recent graduate from California State University, Fullerton. I have a BFA in Theater Arts - Musical Theater; however, math has always had a very special place in my heart, ever since I can remember. I love working with kids and being able to share my passion for mathematics with those around me. I love working with people to figure out how exactly they learn best (and learning a little bit myself, in the process). In my free time you can find me playing volleyball down at the beach, singing, watching TV Shows, spending time with my friends and performing in theater shows around OC.

Hi, I’m Chloe and I am currently a senior at Tesoro High School. I have always enjoyed math, especially Algebra, and I am currently taking AP Calculus AB. In my free time, I enjoy taking my dog on walks, shopping and spending time with friends and family. Eventually, I want to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
