Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Eric

Instructor
Eric graduated from UCSD with a Bachelors in Applied Mathematics. In his free time he loves to solve puzzles and riddles that work out the mind but also loves board games with friends. Eric is here at Mathnasium to help students find an appreciation for math while personally learning to grow as a teacher. His goal is to become a professor at a community college with the idea that higher level math education and appreciation should be more accessible to all.

Ashley

Instructor
Ashley is currently studying biochemistry at the University of San Diego. While she tutors at Mathnasium, she also works in a research lab working to creating new MRI contrast agents. She is also on the swim team at University of San Diego. She loves to tutor students because she loves seeing the students light up when they finally understand a challenging topic. She hopes that they can use the skills that they learn at Mathnasium throughout the rest of their lives.

Lily

Instructor
Lily is an undergraduate at the University of San Diego majoring in accounting with a minor in music. When she’s not at Mathnasium, Lily performs violin in a string ensemble. She has been tutoring math since high school and is committed to creating a supportive learning environment for all. Her passion for mathematics at a young age, has helped her grow in all aspects of her studies. She hopes the students she tutors can learn to love math as much as she does!

Jesus

Instructor
Hi my name is Jesus Fletes Salazar, I am a recent graduate from the University of California, San Diego. I graduated with a Bachelors in Geoscience. Some things about me are that I like to stay active and ever since covid I really try to keep myself moving, my favorite sport is swimming, I love going out hiking, and camping is a big hobby of mine, I love being outdoors. Traveling is a big goal of mine. I haven't traveled much but I have been to many states in Mexico, and I have been to Switzerland and soon I will be traveling to Japan. I want to become a teacher later on in life. I believe teachers make a great impact on a person's life regardless of what subject is being taught. My favorite subjects to teach are math and science as they can be really fun to learn. I hope that working at a Mathnasium can help me in becoming a great teacher someday.

Fazal

Insructor
Fazal has an extensive STEM background and knows how crucial math is in the engineering, computer science and finance fields. In his home country of Afghanistan, Fazal studied engineering. He applied these skills working at several NGOs focused on supporting Afghan refugees. In San Diego, he continued his education in the study of computer science. Not only does Fazal love supporting students in math, but he enjoys the friendly staff and students at Mathnasium of Point Loma.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
