Kevin J

Lead Instructor
Kevin is a senior at Mill Creek High School where he stays busy participating in NHS, Band, Rho Kappa Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society. In his free time, he enjoys discovering and listening to new music and sightseeing in nature. Kevin loves math because "it combines the creative aspects of children and young adults with a strong structure that many students look for in an academic subject. Math is used EVERY day in almost every part of life such as driving, shopping, and cooking. This makes math not only important but so fun to learn about as we get to apply to our lives so frequently." In five years, he plans to be studying clarinet performance at Rice University. Kevin's favorite math joke is, "Once there was a hen who counted her own eggs. She was a mathemachicken!", and he is a black belt in Gongkwon Yusul (Korean Jiu Jitsu)! Kevin says, " I love Mathnasium because it gives me a place to work with wonderful students who are not only academically gifted but willing to learn. It is also wonderful to see the progression of the students and go along their journey as they grow as a student and a person."

Matthew M

Lead Instructor
Matthew has worked at Mathnasium of Buford since he was a senior at North Gwinnett High School in 2019! Now, he is studying Civil Engineering at the University of Georgia where he also participates in the Student Aerospace Initiative and enjoys tennis, weightlifting, and 3D printing. In the next five years, he plans to be using his degree by working in a design firm. He loves Mathnasium, because "we make math less intimidating and more enjoyable!"

Susan J

Instructor
Susan previously worked at Mathnasium while she was in high school and recently returned after completing her Bachelors and Masters degrees at Georgia Tech, and we are so excited to have her back on the team! In her free time she enjoys volunteering, cooking, and baking, and she loves Math because it is a universal language. In the next five years, she wants to buy a house with a patio and two refrigerators :D Susan's favorite math joke: "Why did the student do multiplication problems on the floor? ... His teacher told him not to use tables!" "I love Mathnasium because of the amazing instructor team and the difference we are able to make with our students!"

Sarah C

Instructor
Sarah is a brilliant student at Mill Creek High School where she is also on the Cross County Team and participates in NHS, and the STEM-based program, EPIC. Her favorite hobbies include reading, sleeping, and running and she loves Math because there is never just one way to get an answer or solve a problem. In 5 years, she plans to be finishing her undergrad degree and preparing for the MCAT. Sarah says, " I love Mathnasium, because you're able to build a love for learning in a fun, focused environment."

Julia T

Instructor
Julia is a talented Buford High School student where she is in Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Student Council, Tri M Society, Beta Club, and Mu Alpha Theta. (WOW!!!!) Although she may not have much free time, she does enjoy reading, crochet, and playing the flute whenever she gets a chance. Julia loves math because "there’s always one right answer to the problem, no matter what. It is entirely objective, and there is a set way to get to the answer every time. Also, it is universally applicable - math is a language all on its own, able to be understood by anyone." In five years Julia plans to be attending UGA and pursuing a major in either education, math, or both! She also hopes to join one of UGA's music programs. Fun Fact - Julia's birthday is on Pi Day!! "I love Mathnasium because students are able to learn math completely separate from their schoolwork, practicing concepts that they may have never seen before. I love seeing improvements in the same students every time they come in, whether that be in attitude or skills or both. I love getting to meet new people and share my interest in math with others."

Aspen N

Lead Instructor
Aspen is a Middle Grades Education major at the University of North Georgia who moved here last year from Utah. In her free time, she enjoys painting and skating. In five years she sees herself starting her teaching career. Aspen loves Mathnasium because, "I get to help kids understand math and see when it clicks for them and they get excited about learning."

Milee P

Instructor
Milee is an exceptional Buford High School Student where she participates in chorus and tennis. She is also in HOSA, BETA club, and Tri M. In her free time she enjoys playing board games and organizing anything but her bedroom. In five years she sees herself attending college as a pre-med student with a major in biology or biomedical engineering, but she has not ruled out a business major either. Milee loves math because there is always a right answer, making it a reliable subject with little variance (unless we're talking about statistics). Milee loves Mathnasium, because "It isn’t just a place where kids come to get math help - it’s a loving environment where everyone feels safe and happy. It’s like a safe haven and the instructing actually helps the kids and they have fun while doing it."

Eshaan P

Instructor
Eshaan is an incredibly gifted student at Buford High School where he is in Mu Alpha Theta and HOSA. In his free time he also enjoys playing tennis. Eshaan loves math, because, "It develops lots of essential everyday skills that can be applied in various real-world situations", and in five years he plans to be pursuing a degree in computer science or mathematics. His favorite fun fact is "If there are 23 people in the same room, there is a 50% chance of at least 2 people having the same birthday!" Eshaan loves Mathnasium, because "we have a friendly environment, make math exciting and easy to learn, and help students achieve success in school."
