Jan, Center Director
Jan holds two master's degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He has almost 20 years experience in the management consulting and biotech fields, specializing in operations. He has a life long passion for math. When not working, he spends time playing tennis, swimming, racing triathlon and spending time with his wife and kids.
Tony has a degree in Applied Mathematics from San Diego State University. He is interested in how theoretical concepts are used in real life. He enjoys working kids and has been tutoring since high school. He was also a camp couselor for many years in high school and college. His love for math is matched by his love for running. He runs several miles a day and participates in marathons. He also enjoys playing chess and board games.
Mary is a Biochemistry and Cell Biology major at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). She has tutored math since high school and currently volunteers as a tutor with the UCSD education corps. When not teaching mathematics, she works part time in a biochemistry research laboratory, investigating fatty acid biosynthesis pathways. She is also a certified Emergency Medical Technician. In her free time, she enjoys running and knitting.
Elizabeth is a Computer Engineering major at the University of California, San Diego. Her love of tutoring math began in high school. She is enthusiastic about helping students of all ages understand and enjoy math as much as she does. In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis, playing the piano and hiking.
Chris is a Mathematics major at California State University, San Marcos. He plans to continue his education in hope of one day teaching math at the college level. He finds great joy in sharing his passion for math and helping students understand difficult concepts. In his free time, he enjoys playing scocer, reading and spending time with friends.
Caroline has a degree in Biology from the University of California, Davis. She is currently pursuing her Master's degree in Public Health at San Diego State University. Prior to relocating to San Diego, Caroline spent almost two years as an instructor at an educational non-profit in the San Francisco bay area. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities in the beautiful San Diego weather.
Niko has a degree in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior from the University of California, Davis. He is interested in neuroscience/pediatrics and is currently in the process of applying to medical school. He has worked in a clinical and educational context in low income communities, both locally and abroad. He has enjoyed tutoring mathematics since high school. He enjoys working with children and believes that math gives students the discipline necessary for success in any field. In his free time he enjoys weight lifting, playing guitar and being outdoors.
