Justin Alexander, Center Director
Justin began working at Mathnasium of Fullerton in 2014 where he served as Lead Instructor for over two years. He began his journey at Mathnasium because of his passion for working with kids. In the past, Justin worked as a Tae Kwon Do instructor and learned just how rewarding working with kids could be. Justin has always enjoyed math but his love for the subject really took off when he started taking math classes at the Cal State Fullerton. Justin understands the difficulties that students can have with math and can provide a unique level of insight when it comes to making math make sense for his students. Justin's ultimate goal is to help students to understand math and become mathematically fluent. Similar to his fellow mathletes, he has other non-academic hobbies including painting and model building.
Joel Holland, Lead Instructor
Joel is currently enrolled at Chaffey College, working toward his Associate's in Nursing. He enjoys teaching math and has tutored several students, ranging from elementary through college. In his spare time he enjoys playing soccer and watching superhero movies. Joel loves seeing the moment when a student "gets it" and he looks forward to helping as many students as he can at Mathnasium.
Nicolas Tedesco, Lead Instructor
Nick is studying to become a mathematics professor. Nick currently owns four Associates Degrees and is tri-lingual. In his free time he likes to be with family and friends as well as practice the languages he knows which are English, Spanish, and ASL. He feels that knowing these languages allows him to help students become fluent in the language of mathematics!
Nafisa Arain, Instructor
Nafisa Graduated from UC Irvine with a B.S. in Pure Math and a minor in statistics. When she’s not writing proofs or reading about math she enjoys snowboarding, cake decorating, and reading novels. Nafisa also loves playing piano and guitar.
Alexis Avila, Instructor
Alexis is currently a student at the University of California, Riverside majoring in Applied Mathematis for secondary education. His love of math and desire to teach is what led him to join our team. His long term goal is to become a math teacher. In Alexis' spare time he likes to take pictures of city scapes and wild life, listen to music, and skateboard.
Sean Bell, Instructor
Sean attends Cal Poly Pomona as an applied mathematics major and a history minor. Sean loves sports, but soccer is his favorite. Sean’s favorite food is found in taco trucks. Sean loves to taco-bout food, math, sports, and books!
Josh Boyak, Instructor
Josh is a college graduate from La Sierra University in Riverside with a Bachelor’s Degree in English with an emphasis in writing. Although he dreams of one day becoming a successful author, he also thinks of math as an essential life skill, and gets great enjoyment in clarifying complex and complicated problems and concepts. His hobbies include drawing and listening to music.
Ines Cardona, Instructor
Ines is working on her Bachelors' Degree in Mathematics, and is on the teaching track. Ines believes mathematics is a subject that can be fun and exciting, but also understands that sometimes it is difficult to understand. During her spare time, she enjoys traveling with her family. Ines thinks it is amazing to be able to help kids accomplish so much, taking it step by step.
Kevin Castro, Instructor
Kevin is student at California Baptist University finishing his bachelor's in Electrical & Computer Engineering. He enjoys math and music and enjoys teaching others these subjects. He uses his skills to assist schools and churches in their media or music teams. Kevin likes knowing he made a positive difference in someone's life whether it involves education, decision making, or other skills.
Alisse Gunaji, Instructor
Alisse graduated from UC San Diego with a B.S. in Mathematics and Masters of Education. She enjoys teaching others and sharing her love of mathematics. She loves being outside hiking, jogging, or scuba diving.
Mohammed Kanawati, Instructor
Mohammad began his first year at Norco College in the Fall of 2016, and he is majoring in Business Finance. He hopes to one day become a Finance manager for a top company. He graduated from Santiago High School, and while there, was on the wrestling team his first two years and the tennis team his last two years. Mohammad has always excelled in math and over the years he has gained an appreciation for the subject, and would like to help our students love math as much as he does now.
Mohammed Khalaf, Instructor
Mohammed is currently attending University of California, Riverside. He is currently majoring in Biology, but also has a passion for math because he sees math problems as a puzzle and enjoys solving them. He also loves playing basketball, and is a huge Lakers fan.
Kurt Kreeger, Instructor
Kurt is a Theatre, Film, and Digital Production major at U.C. Riverside with an emphasis in directing. He has a great appreciation for the arts, specifically music and film. Kurt also loves video games, tabletop RPGs, and going on adventures. Math has always been an interest of Kurt's, especially it's application on a day-to-day basis. Kurt looks forward to helping students see the way math is used in every day life, including music, movies & more!
Natasha Naveed, Instructor
Natasha aspires to be an engineer and a math professor. Natasha wants to help every child reach their goals and realize their maximum potential. She enjoys singing, hiking, listening to music and getting involved with new technology.
Nina Nester, Instructor
Nina attends UC Riverside as a chemical engineering undergraduate student with a minor in mathematics. She enjoys the way math can be implemented into daily activities. Helping others understand math is important for Nina because she understands the frustration many go through. As an instructor at Mathnasium, she hopes to help students just as much as she does. Teaching the younger generations the way math is used in the world inspires her to make her own discoveries. One day, Nina hopes to be a part of NASA and discover the unknown. In her free time she enjoys doing makeup, going to the beach, and playing with her dog.
Adam Bender, Community Outreach Coordinator
Adam earned his Bachelor's degree in Business and Communication from the University of Southern California and is a proud Trojan. Adam is thankful that his longtime passion for working with kids and the community is now intertwined with his career. He grew up giving back to his community by coaching basketball at the Boys & Girls Club, working with underprivileged youth in South Los Angeles, volunteering with the Special Olympics, and tutoring his high school peers. Adam was the Center Director at Mathnasium of North Santa Clarita for its opening year, where he worked to make the Center an integral part of the community, and he is now applying that experience to several centers. Adam believes there is no greater reward than helping kids learn, thrive and feel confident in their abilities and is very excited about introducing mathnasium to a wider audience to help more children understand math and see their confidence reach its fullest potential.
