Denise is the owner of 3 Mathnasiums in the Raleigh region, Mathnasium of Cary, Mathnasium of Brier Creek and Mathnasium of North Raleigh. Denise's Cary center, which just celebrated its 5th year anniversary, has been helping students in the Cary, Morrisville, and Apex areas develop the thinking skills and confidence they need to succeed in their math classes. Highly specialized to the needs of Wake County students, the center offers additional help for EOG (End-of-Grade) and EOC (End-of-Course) tests, as well as highly qualified tutors for challenging classes such as Honors Geometry and Honors Algebra 1 and 2. By utilizing Mathnasium material to help children master the content of the NC EOG assessments, her centers in 2007-2008 resulted in nearly 50% of its' students receiving a '4' on their test; the highest grade possible.
Denise's love for Mathematics is apparent in her background - she studied mathematics and education at both the undergraduate and graduate level, with degrees from both Drexel University and Cornell University. After spending 20 years at AT&T Bell Labs and Cisco systems, she embarked on a new journey with Mathnasium to fulfill her desire to give back to the community and build strong math students in Raleigh's schools. Under her directorship, the three Mathnasium locations in Raleigh have truly become community math learning centers.
Chris Hardwick, Director
Chris is one of the first Mathnasium employees in the country, joining the staff of Mathnasium of Cary in 2005. He graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with degrees in both Applied Mathematics and German. Because of his deep knowledge of difficult subjects such as Honors Geometry and Algebra, Chris started as the Lead High School Instructor and Lead 1-on-1 Tutor and has since moved to the position of Director, overseeing the center's tremendous growth in the last several years. In recent years, he has organized weekend EOG and EOC prep camps to help Cary students get ready for upcoming tests. Chris is a world-champion Rubik's Cube solver and uses his love of mathematics and strategy to help children and adults improve their confidence and understanding of math.
