Denise Pappas, Center Director
Denise earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in literature from California State University, Northridge. She is completing a master’s degree in education at National University and will soon be a credentialed teacher. She worked in the entertainment industry before finding her true passion - working with and teaching children. More recently she has been teaching and tutoring students in various settings.

Elias Pappas, Co-Director / Lead Instructor
Elias majored in biology and classical history at UCLA, before earning an MBA in finance from Belford University and a master’s in education from Western Governors University with a teaching credential in secondary science education (grades 5 – 12). He teaches AP biology, AP World History and has been co-chair of the Science Department since 2001. He has also worked with at-risk students through Socrates Educational Services, and was in charge of academic progress for students seeking adoption or foster homes. He has taught algebra and finite mathematics at the San Fernando Valley Professional School.

Denise and her husband Elias live, work, and play in the San Fernando Valley. They decided to offer a service that would benefit their community. They want to take the fear, frustration and disappointment out of math and show students that they can have fun while learning. They see Mathnasium as an opportunity to give back to their local community with a program that truly succeeds in improving student achievement in mathematics. They are excited to make a difference for future generations.
