Our Team

Doug Wolf, Director
Doug earned a B.A. degree in business administration from the University of San Diego and a Master’s degree in business administration from CSU Long Beach. He’s worked in investment management for the past 12 years with Wells Fargo Banks’ Wealth Management Group. Doug has always had a love for math and after working with his children and others at their school he realized how much of a need there is for instruction above and beyond what is being provided at school. Doug contemplated returning to school to earn a teaching credential and becoming a teacher, but decided that Mathnasium and its program provided a better option for children and his community. Doug and his wife have been married for 14 years and together he have three girls ages 12, 8, and 4. In his spare time, Doug enjoys spending time with his family and friends, reading and playing golf.
Michael Norton, Lead Instructor
Michael is a current student at Southwestern College where he plans to finish his transfer credits and transfer to UCSD to obtain a degree in electrical engineering. As a young child he was the one known to take every piece of electronics apart and put it back together. Many years later Michael uses this skill to help teach mathematics by breaking a problem into simpler problems and showing how these smaller parts can be solved, and then put back together. Michael has always been a quick learner and enjoys helping those around him. He has lived in Chula Vista for over 15 years and currently lives in Otay Ranch. Michael specializes in advanced math including AP Calculus.
Sarmad Youssef, Instructor
Sarmad brings to Mathnasium with a degree in mathematics and is currently working on a master’s degree in mathematics at San Diego State University. Additionally, he has a single subject teaching credential from San Diego State University as well. Sarmad has over 7 years of tutoring experience; courses that he has tutored include beginning, intermediate and college algebra, trigonometry, statistics, business calculus and first semester college calculus as well. In his free time Sarmad enjoys playing soccer and swimming.
Natalie Contreras, Instructor
Natalie was raised in National City and Chula Vista, where she graduated from Eastlake High School. In high school, her classmates felt like they could depend on Natalie to help explain math in a simplified manner. Natalie has experience tutoring her classmates and younger sister, and by doing so, has gained an understanding of what methods work well in teaching math. Natalie is currently attending the University of California San Diego, where she is majoring in Joint Math/Economics. She currently lives in the Eastlake area, and loves working with children.
Jordan Downey, Instructor
Jordan is currently a junior at Bonita Vista High School, and a candidate in the International Baccalaureate diploma system. Early on, he developed a strong understanding of math, and was known to challenge himself by asking to be placed in math courses up to 3 years ahead of normal schedule. Currently taking his 2nd year of calculus, he finds genuine delight in helping others in all subjects, particularly mathematics. Jordan believes that word problems can be the most fun aspects of math, and strives to teach others how to conquer their fears and take each question one step at a time. He plans to gain a degree in biomedical engineering from UCSC. In his spare time, Jordan enjoys playing piano, swimming, and martial arts.
