Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Sami Connolly

Instructor
Sami Connolly is a Reno native. She is currently a senior at UNR studying electrical engineering with a robotics emphasis and has been doing engineering since high school while attending the Academy of Arts, Careers, and Technology. “I always knew math would be a big part of my life after eighth grade when working with a teacher with an engineering background.” She loves being able to engage with our kids and inspire them to work towards their dreams, whether it be math related or not (since math is a part of everything in life). She works to show them compassion and encourage them throughout their math journey.

Cassidy Wolfe

Instructor
Cassidy Wolfe has lived in the Sparks/Reno area her whole life. She loves the community she was raised in and wants to be able to provide more resources for the current students in Washoe County. She graduated in 2022 from Spanish Springs High School, where she served as the student body president her senior year. “My favorite part about working at Mathnasium is being able to watch the students’ confidence and passion for math build over time.” Her love for math and teaching has grown throughout her time at the University of Nevada, Reno where she is pursuing a degree in biology on the pre-medical track. We’re excited to have Cassidy on our team and are expecting her to do great things as she prepares for her career in medicine.

Nate Fox

Instructor
Nate Fox lived in Boston for most of his life where he graduated from Belmont High School in 2021. Math was a subject that Nate found tedious early on in his academic career, but he realized he enjoyed math much more when learning from someone who could adapt their teaching style to his needs. Now, Nate uses this experience to be flexible in his teaching style, always trying to find new ways to explain problems and make them more approachable. “This experience allowed me to build my communication and teaching skills with younger children. I have transferred this experience to Mathnasium, where I us it to better explain and introduce difficult math concepts in a more relatable way, leading to deeper understanding and more effective learning.” Along with developing his teaching style at Mathnasium, he is finishing up his math courses at UNR in pursuit of a Mechanical Engineering degree. This pursuit has allowed him to teach more complicated math concepts such as Calculus, and real world math applications like Physics and Statics. Nate has multiple years of former experience as a camp counselor and pottery instructor, working with age groups from elementary school age and up and we’re happy to have him on our team helping our Sparks community.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
