Word Problem Wednesday: Foundational Math Skills At The Amusement Park

Feb 7, 2018 | Cottonwood Heights

Who doesn't love the thrill of a roller coaster?  Sometimes we get that same up & down feeling when it comes to math but it will always be a smooth ride!

In this week’s word problem Landon is trying to figure out how much money he spent at the amusement park. Can you use your foundational math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) to help solve this challenge? Hang on to your hats and sunglasses, Keep your arms and legs inside the car at all times, and don’t forget to check back tomorrow for the solution!

Challenge: Landon goes to a theme park where ride tokens cost 25¢. A roller coaster ride takes 3 tokens. A ride on the Ferris wheel takes 5 tokens. Landon rides the roller coaster and the Ferris wheel 7 times each. How much money did Landon spend on rides?
