Our Team

Alysen holds her BA in Education, specializing in Elementary and Special Education, from Western Washington University. She is also a certified teacher in the state of Texas. Her teaching experience also includes science and social studies, and she has taught at both the primary and intermediate levels. Through her work in many different classrooms, she noticed that many students were struggling with math. This made her realize that teachers need support from a variety of different resources to educate our children.

While exploring Mathnasium, she discovered that the curriculum and delivery methods both align with her teaching philosophy. Alysen believes that educators should be driven to make learning interesting and relevant to students, and is thrilled that Mathnasium supports this. Alysen and her husband, Thomas, moved back to Texas after spending many years stationed near Seattle, with the US Navy.

Will Honea has been at Mathnasium since the fall of 2010. He has taught, coached and administered at various DFW area private schools since 1980. In addition, Will has tutored Algebra at local community college since 2004, and continues to do so in his time outside of Mathnasium. Through teaching and coaching, Will has always enjoyed a strong rapport with students of all ages. This helps him relate well to the wide spectrum of Mathnasium students. He enjoys the fact that the Mathnasium curriculum leaves no stone unturned in math preparation and tutelage.
