Get Started with Mathnasium Math Tutorting

Our Team

Jackie Duvall, Center Director
Jackie earned her Bachelor's degree in Biology from Cal State Long Beach and her Master's degree in Human Genetics from UCLA. Before she joined the Mathnasium team, Jackie spent 7 years conducting research on the genetic influences of autism and other childhood developmental disorders, and presented her findings at many international scientific conferences. Jackie decided to go into teaching because she loves working with kids and wanted to have a more direct, hands-on role in helping young people. In her spare time, Jackie enjoys hiking, camping, watching movies, eating chocolate, and planning adventures. Jackie believes that with a little patience and a lot of positive encouragement, all students can reach their maximum potential.
Daniel Hart, Instructor
Daniel earned his Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies at CSUF, and has recently graduated the teaching program at CSUF with his preliminary credential to teach Foundational Level Math. He is currently starting his fifth year substitute teaching, which has included two long term math placements. In his free time he enjoys watching or participating in sports plus spending time with family and friends. He is excited to join the Mathnasium family to help students understand concepts in a meaningful way.
Arturo Vargas, Instructor
Arturo majored in Computational and Applied Mathematics at UC Irvine. During his undergrad career, Arturo was part of various research projects and has traveled across the nation to present his findings. He credits his success to the great instructors he has had; as such he hopes to pass on what he has learned. Aside from teaching math, Arturo enjoys weekend BBq’s, live music, karaoke, and road trips.
Brian Becker, Instructor
Brian is currently attending Cal State Fullerton as a math major in his senior year. He is a volunteer math tutor for the Math Tutoring Center at CSUF and tutored privately for just over three years.
