Larry Martinek, Creator of the Mathnasium Method

Larry has spent his entire career finding a better way to teach math. From the inner city to public schools, to acclaimed magnet schools, to leading private and parochial schools, Larry has served as both a classroom teacher and as an educational consultant. He has designed curriculum, teaching strategies, and teaching materials designed to help students and teachers learn math more effectively, He has trained teachers in the art and science of boosting students' ability to "do" math, thereby increasing students' math scores and feeling of self-worth. Larry is the developer of Mathnasium's educational program - one of the most comprehensive and innovative curriculums ever produced for teaching math.

While Larry is not an instructor at our center in Garden Grove, he has personally trained Mason to be one of the best center directors.  He also is a valuable asset and we can call on him to ask specific student's scenarios for guidance and advice. This has helped to make visits more productive and enjoyable for many of our students.

Mason grew up in Orange County and always loved math.  He graduated from University of California, San Diego with double majors in Economics and Psychology.  Mason was very successful in every field from the investment industry to the hi-tech industry - and also building several lucrative small businesses.  He realized that his mathematical ability was the basis for much of his success.  Mathematics did not only foster his foundation of the logical thought process, it also helped Mason with every aspect of his businesses from meticulous daily projects to very difficult negotiations.  In process of searching for the new and better businesses, Mason came across Mathnasium Method which used revolutionarily different delivery and teaching process and it was extremely effective.

Experiencing the power of knowing math, Mason now wants to bring that gift to our younger generation through Mathnasium Method.  That is why Mason loves helping students understand mathematical concepts in a way that makes sense to them and seeing them become more enthusiastic about the subject.
