Meet the Team at Mathnasium of Highland Park

Cynthia Krol Owen

Cynthia spent many years assessing the academic skills of students through her work as a school psychologist in North Shore and Lake County schools. Math skills were included in assessments and were occasionally the primary focus. Cynthia excelled in math and studied math at Loyola University. She chose a different career path and earned a master’s degree in school psychology, and a master’s degree in accounting. The joy and interest in math never left. While raising her two daughters, Anne and Alyssa, Cynthia selectively chose volunteer and business opportunities that fit into her role as a mother. She was active on the school board of a private school, as parent council president and as treasurer. She tutored students in high school math through her local community high school. Cynthia is thrilled to now focus on fostering the understanding and love of mathematics with the students of our community. Fun facts: While spending a year in Italy in college, and traveling extensively, her joy of witnessing different cultures and ways of life was cultivated, and she still loves to travel to just about any place new, although she favors warm weather and sunny beaches. She is proud to say that she has kept up with her reformer Pilates classes two to three times a week. Cynthia is a Mathnasium master certified center director. Someone who is master certified has received the highest certification level Mathnasium offers.
