Larry Martinek, Chief Instructional Officer, Developer of Mathnasium Program
Larry has spent his entire career finding a better way to teach math. From inner city to public schools, to acclaimed magnet schools, to leading private and parochial schools, Larry has served as both a classroom teacher and as an educational consultant. He has designed curriculum, teaching strategies, and teaching materials designed to help students and teachers learn math more effectively. He has trained teachers in the art and science of boosting student’s ability to “do” math, thereby increasing student’s math scores and feeling of self-worth. Larry is the developer of Mathnasium’s educational program – one of the most comprehensive and innovative curriculums ever produced for teaching math.
Leigh Ann Trent, Director
Leigh Ann graduated from North Carolina State University in December of 2009 with a degree in Mathematics. She has been with Mathnasium for almost 2 years helping students gain a more complete understanding in math. Leigh Ann began as a lead instructor at the Brier Creek location and was soon promoted to Assistant Director based on her outstanding math tutoring skills and enthusiasm for helping children. Early in 2010 Leigh was promoted to the Director of the Apex Mathnasium that was recently opened.

Based on Leigh Ann's performance and the performance of her centers Leigh Ann has obtained the level of a Mathnasium certified "Master" Director and she has served as a peer mentor for several new Mathnasium owners.

After getting married in April 2010, Leigh Ann and her husband were provided with the opportunity to own and operate the Huntersville Mathnasium which is close to both their families. They are very excited to be home and to have the opportunity to help children grow and succeed in Mecklenburg County.

Leigh Ann works hard to make a difference in each child's view of math and to help the students learn to enjoy a seemingly difficult subject. Leigh Ann is very attentive to the needs of the local school communities she serves and while working in Wake County she designed a successful math curriculum for Mathnasium high school students to prepare for their EOC tests and assisted in coordinating additional programs such as the EOG and EOC camps.
