Chloe Mays, Center Director

Chloe graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and a minor in business from the University of Kansas. In college, Chloe taught lessons in 3rd grade,7th grade, and geometry. For alpha delta pi at KU, she started a math tutoring program for any fellow sisters that were getting frustrated with math. In high school, she was involved in an after school tutoring program for middle schoolers and enjoyed it so much that she decided to keep doing it as a hobby. Chloe enjoys teaching in a way that gets all of the students involved and interested in the material. For example, at the center there are always new and exciting math games and activities for the students that gives a positive view of math. For Choe being able to help students at a Mathnasium has been a dream come true! Learning and applying mathematic concepts should not be stressful or frustrating and Chloe takes great pride in her ability to teach all of our students in a way that reflects those values. Chloe enjoys being able to help students further their math skills in a positive and meaningful way, and believes giving students their confidence back is key to their long term success in everything they do!

InstructorAriana Talaifar, Instructor

Ariana is a senior student at the University of North Texas working towards Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Psychology and Spanish. She is currently working towards her dream of becoming a speech language pathologist. She has worked with over 100 students - both disabled and typically functioning - on a variety of mathematic skills and much more. Her favorite part of teaching is having the opportunity to watch students' lives change before her very eyes. She loves getting to be part of a student's "ah-hah" moment, and helping to break down difficult concepts for students into much more manageable and enjoyable ones. She first began tutoring her friends in math during middle school once variables were introduced, and has enjoyed helping fellow peers in a variety of subjects even through college since then from Biology to Chemistry to History to Mathematics. Her desire to help people has only grown since then and she is absolutely ecstatic to have the opportunity to continue to help students learn and shine at Mathnasium.

 Larry Martinek

Larry Martinek, Chief Instructional Officer, Developer of Mathnasium Program.

Larry has spent his entire career finding a better way to teach math. From inner city to public schools, to acclaimed magnet schools, to leading private and parochial schools, Larry has served as both a classroom teacher and as an educational consultant. He has designed curriculum, teaching strategies, and teaching materials designed to help students and teachers learn math more effectively. He has trained teachers in the art and science of boosting student’s ability to “do” math, thereby increasing student’s math scores and feeling of self-worth. Larry is the developer of Mathnasium’s educational program – one of the most comprehensive and innovative curriculums ever produced for teaching math.

While Larry is not an Instructor at our Center, He is a valuable asset we can call on to ask about specific students scenarios for guidance and advise. This has helped to make visits more productive and enjoyable for many of our students.

OwnerRachna Malhotra, Owner

Rachna decided to start a Mathnasium Learning Center in Irving where she currently lives because she loves Math and is passionate about teaching Math. Rachna's love for Math can be traced back to a very early age when she excelled at the subject during her school years culminating in her topping the national level Math High School exam in India. Her family's deep educational background - her father was the President of a premier Engineering University in India and her mother taught special needs children - in turn engrained the importance of quality education in her right from the beginning. After earning a Bachelor's of Economics from Delhi University and a Masters of Economics from the University of Maryland, College Park, her first job was teaching Math, Economics and Financial Modeling to undergraduate students at a premier women's college in New Delhi. After her husband and she moved to the US she chose a career of an Actuary that enabled her to leverage her strong passion for Math and use it in a business setting. During her 12 year career as an Actuarial Consultant for Deloitte Consulting, Rachna has specialized in Retirement Benefits Consulting and in the process helped several Fortune 1000 Clients reduce complexity and optimize their Pension and Benefit Plans.
