'They just make it simpler' My 15 year old daughters, after finishing Algebra II and Trigonometry in their sophomore year, took an entrance assessment test for the Bellevue College Running Start program. While they both did fine on assignments in their math classes and always kept up, they both tested poorly on their assesment exam, with one testing at the lowest level. They both said they did not understand why they were solving equations the way they were taught;, they just memorized the process. But when they needed to recall how to solve random equations, they could not. It did not make sense to them. After just two sessions at Mathnasium, one daughter was amazed at how the basic components of algebra and trigonometry were explained in a way that made sense and consequently made much of what she had previously learned make sense. My other daughter loved the environment, where everyone was there to learn and work. After ... I have two sons, one of them is advanced in school and one is sum-what behind. I had them both in Kumon but pulled them out to give them both the connection they needed. That conncetion is with a real person. My boys are now having contact with knowoledgeable instructors that REALLY care about each of their progress. They are now both accelerating in the classroom now. It is such a relief, as a parent, to know that your giving your children the best in their education. Sumitha is an amazing tutor who is not only caring, but is very good at teaching children at their own level and pace so they can fully understand math conceptually
