Victoria earned a Bachelor of Arts degree as a Mathematics Major from Manchester College and a Master of Science degree in Mathematics Education from Indiana University. She also did extensive graduate work in Mathematics Education after finishing her Master's Degree focusing on Mathematical Problem Solving and Computers. As the Director of Admissions, Victoria leverages her career in teaching to help the students at Mathnasium of Laguna Niguel excel at math.
Kapil Mathur, Director of Education / Owner
Mathnasium Master Certified
Kapil has been tutoring kids with Math using the Mathnasium Method for almost a decade. Kapil was the first instructor to obtain Mathnasium Master Certification in California. Kapil graduated from Canyon High School in Anaheim Hills. He studied Chemistry and Biology at Chapman University and a master's degree from UCLA. He has extensive experience in math and science education. Kapil co-authored an experiential math and science program for middle school children where basic principles are demonstrated by using ordinary objects. Kapil was also instrumental in developing technology programs involving math, chemistry and physics for the high school student. "Using examples from a child's real world," says Kapil, "is one of the best ways to help them visualize complex mathematical ideas." He currently lives in Orange County with his wife and 2 year old daughter.
Steve Parker, Tutor
Steve has been tutoring in Math, both as a volunteer and as a private tutor, for the last 5 years. "I love helping people to understand that, more often than not, math is much easier than they perceive it to be," says Steve. Before coming to Mathnasium, Steve was a tutor at the Learning Assistance Program (LAP) Tutoring Center at Saddleback College. Steve prides himself on being especially patient with students. Steve has a wide variety of interests including Psychology of Learning, Tutoring Youth and Adults With Special Needs, Neurological Networking Pathways, Retinal and Cochlear Implants, Cell Development and Specialization.
Dr. Tim Kochiev, Tutor
Tim holds a Ph.D. in Physics and has extensive teaching experience. Tim volunteers at Computers4Kids which is a non-profit educational organization for middle and high school children helping them develop skills in various PC and web applications. Tim has always enjoyed teaching and think that it is exciting when you help students learn and having a good sense of humor helps to make this process more enjoyable and efficient. Tim thinks that Mathnasium is a wonderful environment for children of various ages to learn mathematics in addition to their studies in school.
