Time to Start Thinking About Summer Math

Apr 4, 2017 | La Jolla

Summer is coming and it’s time to get ready! A study by the National Summer Learning Association (NSLA) reveals that over two months of math skills can be lost during the summer if kids don’t practice regularly, and that teachers spend up to six weeks re-teaching old material when students return to school in fall. Referred to as the “summer slide,” this phenomenon is high on the list of concerns for parents and educators alike.

Mathnasium of La Jolla's summer program can help offset the summer slide by offering your mathlete a fun but educational activity, one that will keep brains active and math skills sharp. For kids, the summer program is a time when they can take advantage of the relaxed atmosphere to focus on remediation and catching up, or to preview the upcoming school year’s key concepts. Summer is a time when many students can make significant strides in their math progress and kick the new school year off strong! So whether your student is in algebra, integrated math, middle school math, or elementary basics, we have a program for you that provides that summer bridge program you are looking for.
