Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Marshall

Lead Instructor
Marshall is originally from Garwood New Jersey, and served in the United States Marines from 2013-2018. He is currently studying finance at The Ohio State University. From 2018-2020 he additionally did five semesters towards a degree in math education before hand. We are proud to have Marshall as one of our instructors!

Russ

Lead Instructor
Russ has had a life-long interest in math. He tutored students while attending high school in Virginia, received an MS in Applied Math from the University of Virginia. He was a scientific application programmer at the Naval Air Test Center, and was known as the “numbers man” when he worked for over 30 years at OCLC in Dublin. While working and since his retirement he has always enjoyed tutoring neighborhood children in math. The ongoing joke was that he did not want to be paid; he enjoyed working with the kids and receiving the occasional brownies from the thankful parents. “Working with students at Mathnasium gives me the opportunity to continue doing what I enjoy, using a very well-defined curriculum and proven process.” Equally important as math is to Russ, is a love for music, and he is so proud of his son, a professional musician and music educator, and his grandsons who are also excellent musicians.

Mike

Education Director
Mike is a graduate of Michigan State University, where he earned his Bachelors and Master’s degree in History, with a minor in math. He then got his teaching certification and taught high school math in Michigan and Illinois. He has been working at Mathnasium for six years in a variety of roles. Furthermore, he enjoys reading science fiction and watching SCIFI and classic movies. Favorite Number: 0, because it is such a troublemaker. Fun fact: As a child, I saw the launch of Apollo 8.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
