Question: A square has a diagonal equal to √30 in. What is the area of the square?
Answer: 15 in.2
Note: The relationship between the side of a square (s) and the diagonal (d) is: d = s√2. Since d = √30 = √15 • √2 that means s = √15. The area of a square is s2 = √15 • √15 = 15.
