Jonathan Bleecker, Center Director/Owner
When I graduated from UCSC with an MS in mathematics I considered going the usual route into industry but did not find any pull in that direction. Teaching, on the other hand, gives me great fulfillment. It's cliched, but there is nothing like knowing you have had a lasting positive effect on people's lives; an outcome they may enjoy for the rest of their lives. I love the idea that twenty years from now our students will be grateful for the guidance we have given them today.
I specifically chose to open a Mathnasium because the program is amazing. The curriculum makes teaching easy, leaving us to focus on bringing joy to our kids.
Gregory Lyons, Instructor
I graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. I worked as a Manufacturing Engineer in the computer industry for 24 years. Later in life I needed a change. I pursued a Masters of Education degree in Secondary Education. For the last 9 years I have been teaching mathematics and engineering classes, currently serving as Math Department Chair for Northgate Highschool.
Michelle Kumamoto, Instructor
I am a fully certified math teacher that loves the variety and energy of the Mathnasium environment. I have a Master's in Secondary Education with an emphasis in IEPs, 504s and high-risk students. I have a strong understanding of educational rights. I also have a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (with a minor in Fine Arts). I have taught in public schools, colleges and as a private tutor for all levels.
It is immensely rewarding to see students gain confidence through proactive interaction and aid students towards independent learning.
Cedric Niguidula, Instructor
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Engineering from Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines, which emphasized quantitative math and science courses. Prior to joining Mathnasium, I was a math tutor for elementary and middle school students when I lived in Stamford, Connecticut. In addition, I have also been an independent consultant working on various IT project initiatives. Starting from my childhood until college, math was always my favorite subject, and I am very passionate about it. I enjoy sharing this passion by teaching math. It's such a great feeling knowing that, as an instructor, I am able to help students become confident and happy.
Mila Steinberg, Instructor
I am a college student majoring in Biochemistry with a minor in Spanish. I would like to go into the medical field and spend my spare time developing charitable non-profit organizations. I have always loved working with kids, whether it be as an assistant coach to the swim team or a tutor here at Mathnasium, I enjoy it all.
Deepali Dua, Instructor
I have my master's degree in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. I had an immense love for math and science since my early childhood. I have conducted research, lectured university courses, and also taught high-school students. It gives me a sense of fulfilment working here at Mathnasium and I really love the way we teach kids. I love changing their view point, regarding problem solving. I enjoy watching the kids develop a love for the subject.
Geoffery Lee, Instructor
My long history as a teacher began in high school, then continued to graduate school where I taught College Algebra for several years. Teaching also became part of my job as a top troubleshooter at a pre-Internet network company in Silicon Valley and as a network programmer at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. My teaching is not restricted to math; I've taught tai chi locally for the last two decades.
Over the years I have accumulated several alternative calculating techniques that make computation faster and easier for students, and I enjoy teaching these techniques to students who struggle with the methods traditionally taught in schools. I've tutored locally since 2007, and some of my fellow tutors have adopted my techniques. It is my belief that with the proper instruction, any motivated student can get a good grade in math. Or be the best in the entire class. Or the entire school.

Anton Kaasa, Instructor
I am currently a student in pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with hopes of a PhD. I first started tutoring in high school and realized not only my love for math, but also love for teaching. I hope to one day teach math at collegiate level.
Don Kresse, Instructor
I graduated from UC Berkeley in 1984 with a degree in geology. I spent 25 years as a hydrogeologist in the groundwater contaminant mitigation consulting industry, and I am a licensed professional geologist and certified hydrogeologist in the state of California. I retired from consulting to pursue a career in stock index derivative trading and to teach others in science, market finance, and mathematics. I have found Mathnasium as the perfect outlet for my desire to make a difference in young people's lives.
Jack Ellsworth, Instructor
I really fell in love with math during my junior year of High School. When one of my teachers really inspired me, I made it my mission to not only help through my school's tutoring program, but also to get these students excited about what they are learning as well. I am an engineering major intending to use math to build cars and send rockets into space. I eventually hope to return to education and teach students to do the same.
Josh Ngo, Instructor
I graduated from CSU Long Baech with a degree in Business Economics. In the past, I was a Community Educator for Castro Valley High School. There I realized that one of the gratest moments in life is to see others achieve their potential, especially in academics. I believe that math is one of the most important subjects that students will carry on and use in life.
Kyra Clark, Instructor
I am a senior at Livermore High School, and in the fall, I will be going to Harvey Mudd College for Mathematical and Computational Biology. I have always loved math and science, so I am very excited to further my education in the fall. For now, I am super enthused to be working at Mathnasium. I have worked as a peer tutor in high school and I have worked with children as a babysitter for 6 years. I am so happy to help students in math and drive their enthusiasm in the subject that I love.
