Center Director/OwnerJonathan Bleecker, Center Director/Owner

When I graduated from UCSC with an MS in mathematics I considered going the usual route into industry but did not find any pull in that direction. Teaching, on the other hand, gives me great fulfillment. It's cliched, but there is nothing like knowing you have had a lasting positive effect on people's lives; an outcome they may enjoy for the rest of their days. I love the idea that twenty years from now our students will be grateful for the guidance we have given them today.

I specifically chose to open a Mathnasium because the program is amazing. The curriculum makes teaching easy, leaving us to focus on bringing joy to our kids.

Collin Crites, Instructor

I am a recent graduate from Sonoma State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Physics and a minor in Math. While in college I tutored many students. I helped them pass their classes while stressing the importance of math and science in everyday life. At Mathnasium, I aspire to do the same with every young mind that walks through our door.

Katherine Walton, Instructor

I grew up in Livermore and recently graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a B.S. in Earth Science. Math for me has always been an enjoyable challenge, and I love the feeling of accomplishment from solving difficult problems. At Mathnasium, I get the chance to encourage students of all ages to tackle these kinds of problems and find their feeling of accomplishment.

Zhi Yang Tan, Instructor

Being a student myself, I've also encountered my share of difficulties in math. I came to Mathnasium as a 9-year-old, and the tutors set me up for success in math for the rest of my life. Almost a decade later, it's been extremely exciting to take on the tutor role, and to use the tools and techniques I learned from Mathnasium to help others find success and joy in mathematics.

Geoffery Lee, Instructor

My long history as a teacher began in high school, then continued to graduate school where I taught College Algebra for several years. Teaching also became part of my job as a top troubleshooter at a pre-Internet network company in Silicon Valley and as a network programmer at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. My teaching is not restricted to math; I've taught tai chi locally for the last two decades.

Over the years I have accumulated several alternative calculating techniques that make computation faster and easier for students, and I enjoy teaching these techniques to students who struggle with the methods traditionally taught in schools. I've tutored locally since 2007, and some of my fellow tutors have adopted my techniques. It is my belief that with the proper instruction, any motivated student can get a good grade in math. Or be the best in the entire class. Or the entire school.

Ramon Talley, Instructor

I grew up in Livermore and graduated from Sonoma State University. I found that I enjoyed helping struggling students gain mastery of difficult subjects while getting my teaching credential. I love contributing to every student's learning process as a tutor now. What I like about Mathnasium is that it is responsive to every student's individual needs while maintaining a fun environment.

Uday Mehta, Instructor

I graduated from UC Berkeley in 2016 with a B.S. in nuclear engineering, and I currently work in radiological characterization at Lawrence Livermore National Lab. I first found a passion for math and its applications in high school. For the past half-decade, I have tutored various math and physics courses. In my work, I deal with geometric modeling, statistical optimization, and production/decay calculations. I enjoy observing instances of the golden ration in art, nature, and especially sports.

Don Kresse, Instructor

I graduated from UC Berkeley in 1984 with a degree in geology.  I spent 25 years as a hydrogeologist in the groundwater contaminant mitigation consulting industry, and I am a licensed professional geologist and certified hydrogeologist in the state of California. I retired from consulting to pursue a career in stock index derivative trading and to teach others in science, market finance, and mathematics. I have found Mathnasium as the perfect outlet for my desire to make a difference in young people's lives.

Jordan Combitsis, Instructor

I'm a senior at Livermore High School and have always loved math. Due to my enthusiasm for math and science, I plan to pursue a degree in engineering. In addition to working at Mathnasium, I also enjoy helping other students at my school by participating in after-school tutoring programs. By working as a tutor, I hope to help other kids not only learn math, but find the same passion for the subject that I have discovered myself.

Rhea Ganesh, Instructor

I'm a junior at Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon, currently enrolled in AP Calculus AB, with a year of peer tutoring experience at my school. I have a passion for teaching math and science, and I find satisfaction in helping others gain confidence and success. I enjoy working at Mathnasium to help kids obtain new learning perspectives, and find a genuine interest in the subject.
