I'm a local dad with 3 kids that have grown up in the Lorton area. Our oldest attended William Halley Elementary from K-6, then South County Secondary from 7-12, and is now a college graduate from Bowling Green in Ohio. Our two younger children also attended William Halley from K-6, and we now have one daughter at James Madison University as a Junior, and one that graduated from Christopher Newport University in 2021. I have a BSEE from Virginia Tech and over 29 years of experience in engineering and management for local companies. I've spent many evenings working with my own kids at the kitchen table on all levels of math, and truly enjoy the spark that comes when a kid "gets it" after struggling to understand a math problem or concept. The Mathnasium Method is one of the best sets of teaching tools I have found, and I'm excited to bring them to kids of all ages and abilities in the Lorton area.

I've been volunteering in the local schools for many years, and I know first hand that we have a great school system and great kids. I'm excited to help students that may be struggling with math to get them back on track, and to help kids that are already on track to get ahead, and to challenge the kids that are already ahead to excel! I have a BA from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland, and was a human resources specialist until our oldest was five, when I decided to be a stay at home mom.

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
