Our Team

Karen is currently a credential teacher with Los Angeles Unified School District, the 2nd largest school district in the country. She has served as a mentor teacher in both Certificated Staff Mentoring Program and Beginning Teacher Support & Assessment programs. Prior to teaching at LAUSD, she taught at a prestigious private school. Karen has attended UCLA for undergraduate studies and Stanford for education certification training. Karen loves working with children of all ages. She believes that all children can achieve their academic and personal goals, which is why she is passionate and dedicated to make a difference in their lives by instilling a love of learning and teaching in way that makes sense to them. She believes, as a Center Director, Mathnasium’s proven methods will engage all levels of math learners, without compromising the rigor and content standard based teaching methods set by the California Board of Education. It is powerful to teach kids math in way that makes sense to them.

Matthew achieved numerous academic awards while earning both a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Finance from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business, where he was recognized as the Beta Gamma Sigma Outstanding Honors Graduate. He believes math was the foundation of his academic success from elementary school to MBA program. In addition, he is using math on a daily basis in his profession. With a competitive global market being what it is today, he is convinced that math is the core subject all students must excel in. One way to achieve this goal is to make math engaging, fun and challenging. He believes Mathnasium is the curriculum that will deliver on this goal. He is excited about the results that Mathnasium has brought for his two young daughters and he hopes to share those results to all children in the South Bay. Karen and Matthew live in Torrance and are proud parents of 2 daughters in elementary school. They understand the importance of developing “Number Sense” and look forward to bringing the Mathnasium Method to your children.
