Math Anxiety is Contagious!
Sep 6, 2017
I used to call it the "broccoli" syndrome when my kids were young. Say something to your spouse like "oh, it's okay honey, I didn't like broccoli either when I was their age" and see how quickly your kid gobbles down all those wonderful greens on their plates! Ok, with me it was brussel sprouts (does ANYONE really eat those darn things?) but you get the point.
You don't have to bubble over with feigned love for Math in front of your kids but take care in what you say and how you act and they will be much more likely to give it a chance and give it their best. See more in this article in the Trib.
