Our Team

Alysen holds her BA in Education, specializing in Elementary and Special Education, from Western Washington University. She is also a certified teacher in the state of Texas and currently substitutes in the local schools so she can stay current with the needs and expectations of the McKinney math students. Her teaching experience also includes science and social studies and she has taught at both the primary and intermediate levels. Through her work in many different classrooms, she noticed that many students were struggling with math. This made her realize that teachers need support from a variety of different resources to educate our children. While exploring Mathnasium, she discovered that the curriculum and delivery methods both align with her teaching philosophy. Alysen believes that educators should be driven to make learning interesting and relevant to students, and is thrilled that Mathnasium supports this. Alysen and her husband Thomas are now residents of McKinney after spending many years stationed near Seattle, with the US Navy.
