Have you ever found yourself in the kitchen wondering how to double up on your favorite holiday cookie recipe for a party coming up? Ever go to a clothing store and find your favorite shirt at 40% off the regular price and then scramble to find an associate to calculate the discounted price for you? Find yourself calculating the area of a room of your new home to fit in that perfect furniture?

These are just some of the day to day scenarios in our life that we encounter and we need to rack our brains to calculate the Math and find a solution. The underlying solution to all of these questions and many more is: Knowing your Multiplication facts or Times tables or Repeated addition or as we like to call it here at Mathnasium of Gilbert, Multiplication fluency!

Elementary aged students often find themselves in the midst of a multiplication and division tumbleweed, right after finishing up on addition and subtraction; but do not get enough time to engage with multiplication as a key arithmetic operative concept. Multiplication is a building block for a lot of Mathematical concepts to follow later on as they move to Middle school where they encounter fractions, decimals, percents, ratio and proportional reasoning and solving and then High school where they are working on Algebraic skills, Geometry, PreCalculus and so on. This rendezvous with multiplication of numbers carries on well into undergraduate school and our daily lives ever after.

To address this growing need, at Mathnasium of Gilbert, beginning mid-October, we began mini-multiplication camps every Wednesday from 5pm to 6pm and every Saturday from 11am to noon. In this hour, we help our enrolled students understand multiplication in terms of repeated addition and help with problem solving using multiplication. The hour also includes - timed tests and a variety of fun games like multiplication wrap ups, multiplication machine, multiplication flash cards, multiploganos etc. Thus far, we have numerous success stories. Some of these students have moved on to and have had success basic as well as long division already! - the most dreaded elementary Math concept!!

If you would like see how we can help your child overcome their fear of Multiplication and be on top of that, give us a call today at (480) 782 - 7987 or Schedule Free Trial! and we can get them started right away!
