What to do with the kids this weekend: Day of the Dead, carnivals
Nov 3, 2017
As kids continue to nurse the sugar headaches caused by eating all that Halloween candy, the weekend gets an early start with the Day of the Dead festival on Thursday. The party starts at 4 p.m. in downtown Fort Lauderdale’s Huizenga Plaza (32 E. Las Olas Blvd.) with mask and puppet making, sugar skull face painting, traditional music and dancing. Mariachi musicians will lead the Skeleton Processional – featuring giant puppets and more than 1,000 skeletons – along the Fort Lauderdale Riverwalk at 6:30 p.m., followed by a street festival in the 100 block of Southwest Third Avenue (dayofthedeadflorida.com).
