Children enjoy the Mathnasium experience. Enjoy more math work you ask? How is this possible? The answer is simple. We make their job easier. We build their confidence. We get them and keep them on par or ahead of the rest.

So we asked some of our students to share their experience. In their own words answer the question 'Why do you like coming to Mathnasium?'.

Why kids like coming to Mathnasium

John,

My daughter has been going to Mathnasium for the past six months. She has always struggled with math, and had problems achieving good grades. We have tried traditional tutors, and after school assistance. It is with great pleasure that I report to you that she received her progress report for her first marking period in middle school, and she has earned an A in Math!! I attribute her improvement to her hard work and your excellent program.

She enjoys the time she spends with you and your staff. She has never once complained about attending, even during the summer months. I feel, as well, that the program has directly influenced her attitude about school and more specifically studying, as she is really applying herself in all of her classes. She is doing well in all subjects. I think a great deal of her new confidence is attributable to your program.

Thank you!!!

Sincerely, Deirdre T.

it takes time
Before enrolling in Mathnasium our 10 year old daughter Cate was having a difficult time with Math. She was receiving C's on her exams and report card and was extremely frustrated with math homework. Her confidence level was very low and she was not able to learn any new math skills. Our efforts at home to help were only leading to more frustration and extreme tension at home. We enrolled her in Mathnasium in May of 2010 and immediately we saw an improvement. Cate enjoyed attending her sessions at Mathnasium and began to actually enjoy math. She finished out the school year with a C in math but with a little bit of confidence that she could get better. She attended Mathnasium all summer and upon entering 5th grade had acquired a level of confidence she did not have before. She has continued with Mathnasium and is consistently receiving high 90s and 100s on her math exams, completes her math homework on her own and without frustration and received an A on her report card in math. We are thrilled with the success of the Mathnasium program and would recommend it to anyone who's child is having difficulty with math. Cate has been attending Mathnasium for 6 months and now can confidently say that she enjoys math and is good at it!

Thank you and your excellent staff for helping Cate through a difficult time and for helping her to reach her full potential.

Dear John,

I just wanted to share with you something incredible. We have just recently enrolled our daughter into Mathnasium. She has only been a part of your program for a month. We have absolutely seen progress already! Her grades are moving up! She has steadily been increasing from C's to B's! She is THRILLED.

Well, that in itself is GREAT. However, the other night before she went to bed, I actually heard her pray that she thanks God for Mathnasium!! It was amazing to hear that a child could be grateful for something like that. This speaks volumes about your program and how LIFE changing it can be. We have seen such a difference in her whole attitude toward herself, and her abilities. We can't thank you enough! Keep up your tireless commitment. It has been a blessing to us, as well as so many other students!

something incredible
John, I wanted to share some great news about Sophie's NJASK score in math. It went up from a 229 (76% correct) in 4th grade to a 278 (93% correct) in 5th grade. This is a testament to the impact of Mathnasium! Thanks to you and to all of her teachers. Sincerely, Karen S.

Hi John,

I am writing because I thought you should know how pleased we are with Mathnasium’s program. Our son, Shawn, has made such tremendous progress in just a few weeks that we know Mathnasium is going to turn his whole outlook on Math around. Prior to coming to Mathnasium, Shawn was really struggling with math.

We tried all of the other commercialized learning centers, however, Shawn hated going to them. Shawn actually looks forward to coming to Mathnasium and we feel that is because he recognizes the enthusiasm and genuine interest that the staff at Mathnuasium shows for his academic success.

Shawn’s confidence level with math is so much better now and he is starting to show great improvement in his grades and his work habits. We just wanted to take a few minutes out of our day to thank you and your staff for making Shawn’s experience with math a lot more enjoyable.

Many thanks,

Shawn K.

John, I can’t say enough positive things about Mathnasium. My son is a sophomore in high school. After failing math in junior high, Sutton was very frustrated, didn’t feel very smart, and didn’t want any help from me or anyone else. I knew that he could learn math, but I know that we each learn differently, so we just had to find the place that explained math how he could understand it. The first place he tested seemed very stuffy and no fun at all. During our initial visit at Mathnasium, you explained 3 different problems in different ways until Sutton was able to understand. With a glimmer of hope, I signed up. I must admit that Sutton was very resistant and mad at first and it was really difficult to even get him there. After about the third visit, his attitude began to change. He now willingly goes and I recently overheard him tell a friend that tutoring is kind of fun! He is motivated by the punch card rewards and drawings. I am impressed with the positive attitudes and patience of the tutors. He currently has a B in Algebra and just got his 1st 100% on a test plus all the extra credit points. The best result for me so far is to see how his confidence level has greatly increased in math and how proud he feels about his success. He is raising his hand in class to answer questions and even completes problems on the board in front of his peers. That to me is priceless!! James

Dear Mr. Napoli and Staff at Mathnasium, As a current 8th grade student and appreciative customer, I would like to deeply extend my thanks to all of you for the assistance you’ve provided for me over the last several months. I was impressed by Mr. Napoli’s ability to assess what I needed to brush up on, and everyone who helped me to re-learn what I had forgotten, teach me new things I had yet to learn, and even provide me many useful tricks and tips. I had about four months to prepare for the vocational school entrance exam, and you utilized it fully. What I would really like to highlight is that you were able to tap into things my Algebra teacher had yet to cover in class. I laugh softly at your bit of foresight, as such things were certainly on the test. While the exam was difficult, I reflect on how I was able to leave, knowing I did the best I could using all that I had been taught. That left my face a shade less of green compared to everyone else. Two days ago, the time had finally arrived. I received my letter in the mail. September 2011 is when I become a freshman at Communications High School in Wall. Approximately 250 people applied to get into a class of about 60. To think that I will be one of them…it makes me elated. I would have never managed this without your patience and ability to demonstrate Math in ways that far surpass my Algebra teacher at school. Once again, I thank you for all that you done, and I hope that you will all continue to enlighten kids and give them the confidence and knowledge needed to succeed that you have given me. Sincerely, Dana

My son was never strong in math, but last semester he began bringing home a steady stream of Cs, Ds and Fs. His school’s basic skills math class wasn’t making a dent, nor was our own parental tutoring, and doing homework and studying for tests had become an ordeal. This past summer we enrolled him Mathnasium of Middletown, and the results have been nothing short of astounding. He’s now running a straight A in math, and test scores of 100 have become the norm. Perhaps more important, I can see a big change in his self-esteem; he feels much more confident in his math abilities, and this confidence has extended to all his schoolwork and his sense of self-worth. I am amazed by what’s been achieved in five months and I can’t thank you and your team enough
