Center Director (Education)
Joyce Ng discovered her passion for teaching while working at a children’s science camp during the school holidays. She graduated from the National University of Singapore with second upper class honors in Chemistry. She taught Secondary Math classes in Singapore for 3 years. After moving to America, she started work at the Mathnasium of Rockwall-Heath, Texas. As the lead instructor there for four years, she has personally experienced how the Mathnasium Method™ helps math make sense to kids. In addition, she received her certification to teach high school math and chemistry in the State of Texas and have substitute taught in the Rockwall Independent School District for a year. She loves reading and travelling in her free time. With her extensive experience with math tutoring and the Mathnasium MethodTM, she is happy to be able the serve the needs of the Milpitas community.
Becky graduated from the University of the Pacific with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. She worked as a software engineer, before deciding to stay home and raise a family. Several family moves led Becky to many years of home-teaching where she realized she loved working with children. She has also worked with children in both summer camp and youth group settings. She looks forward to working with children as they build their math skills, and encouraging them to reach their full potential.
Anna is a student majoring in Health Science at San Jose State University. Before working at Mathnasium, she volunteered as a math tutor at the Milpitas Library as well as elementary schools throughout the Milpitas Unified School District. Through her volunteer experience, she has found that she truly enjoys working with children and is working towards becoming a pediatrician in the future. She looks forward to meeting and working with the students at Mathnasium.
Thea is a recent graduate from San Jose State University with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences Systems Physiology and a minor in Chemistry. During college, she got to volunteer in the university’s child development center. This experience showed her how fun it was to work with children. She looks forward in helping students with math at Mathnasium and she hopes she can pursue a teaching career in the future.
Alex recently graduated from UCLA with a degree in Microbiology. Although he majored in the sciences, math played an important role in all scientific concepts. He has experience tutoring high school and college students, but loves working with children. Alex loves to teach and play a role in students’ growth. He is accepted into medical school (UCLA) and hopes to become a physician in the future.
Mary is currently a student majoring in Mathematics-Preparation for Teaching at San Jose State University. Before working at Mathnasium, she volunteered at a nonprofit organization for low income families. There, she worked with children to help teach and guide them. Through her experience, she has found a passion for working with children, especially with math. Working at Mathnasium, she hopes to help the students improve their math skills. In the future, Mary hopes to become a teacher as she loves to work with children.
Nancy has previously worked with children and tutored them in programs at local libraries. These programs include MATHeasy and other non-math related subjects. She found an interest in Mathnasium because she enjoys working with younger kids. Nancy looks forward to helping the children find their own passion for math. In the fututre, she hopes to major in biochemistry and minor in child development.
