”Math is a powerful skill needed for almost every career in today's economy, and students who do
not have a solid grasp on math will be disadvantaged in the workforce. After deciding I wanted to
leave the corporate world to focus on helping students develop these needed math skills, I examined
several learning center offerings and was most impressed with Mathnasium. Mathnasium offers a highly
regarded math program, customized to the student, with proven results - it builds math skills, math
confidence, and sets the foundation for future growth. Students enjoy the engaging curriculum and they
discover that math is fun. And, as an added benefit, the program offers tremendous value and flexibility
for the parents." — Janet Phillips, Mathnasium Huntsville, Alabama
Janet Phillips holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Auburn University, and an MBA from
Vanderbilt University. She draws from her experience as Program Manager for the U.S. Space Camp program in
Huntsville, AL, and six years as a strategic management consultant with Deloitte & Touche.
"I love mathematics. I love kids. I love to teach. All over the world, the demand for expertise in
mathematics is growing. Effective mathematics tutoring is difficult to find at an affordable price.
The Mathnasium teaching method, curriculum, and business model are meeting these needs, and I am
excited to be a part of it." — Steve Ross, Mathnasium McMurray, Pennsylvania
Steve holds a BS in Management Systems from Kettering University, and a MS in Industrial Administration
from Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to Mathnasium, he spent 15 years in the manufacturing industry
and held several management positions, most recently with U.S. Steel Corporation.

“Two things struck me about Mathnasium. One was that the philosophy was very much like my personal philosophy. I believe that kids have individual needs that need to be met. "I have always had a passion for children and for teaching, so a Mathnasium franchise seemed like a perfect fit. My husband and I were thrilled that we found a business opportunity that not only seemed like it would be profitable, but would also be a tremendous service to the community. Since opening our center, the experience has been priceless. This is such a rewarding business and you can’t put any amount of money on the feeling that you get from helping a student succeed. I look forward to going into our center every single day. I now know the difference between a job and a career." — Matrice Williams, Mathnasium Burlington, NC
