Julie Tempest

Owner & Assistant Center Director
Julie is the Co-Owner and Assistant Center Director at Mathnasium of Northwest Seattle. She received an MBA from the University of Washington Michael G. Foster School of Business and a BA in International Affairs from Lewis & Clark College. Previously, she has worked in global health, consulting, telecommunications, education, and public policy. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Terrewode Women's Fund supporting maternal health initiatives in Uganda. Julie has always enjoyed math and is delighted to help students build their math skills and boost their confidence along the way.

Hannah Stern

Lead Instructor
Hannah is a graduate of the University of Washington. Her ultimate passion is teaching, and she loves the challenge of figuring out how a student thinks and breaking down concepts in a way that makes sense to them. Hannah considers herself equally creative and logical - while she majored in art, she equally enjoys subjects including computer science, chemistry, and especially math.

Peter Kron

Instructor
Peter recently retired after a career in PC and web software development with various companies in Seattle, including Microsoft. He graduated from Dartmouth College with a degree in Mathematics, minoring in Computer Science. Peter has always liked math and enjoys recreational mathematics, puzzles, and math history. He lives in Ballard and enjoys sharing his love for math with the students he instructs at Mathnasium.

Calvin Go

Senior Instructor
Calvin is a graduate of Gonzaga University, where he majored in Business Administration with a minor in Communication Studies. He is planning to study Environmental Science in graduate school. Math has been one of Calvin's favorite subjects since he was a kid. In addition to doing math homework and studying for math tests, Calvin also likes solving "magic" math problems and puzzles!

Adam Kapilow

Senior Instructor
Adam recently graduated with a master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Washington, researching Algebraic Geometry and teaching all kinds of math. Outside of math, he has a deep love for juggling and the circus, having been a juggler for the last 15 years, and having spent 6 years instructing kids in the circus arts with the Amazing Grace Youth Circus. Recently he’s been enjoying studying the deep connections between juggling and mathematics. He loves sharing his enthusiasm for math and for learning with the kids at Mathnasium.

Alex Cramer

Senior Instructor
Alex has been a math and science tutor for over a decade before coming to Mathnasium. He has a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Wisconsin. Math has been a passion of his from a young age. He finds sharing that passion with others and helping them to unlock their own skills and appreciation for the subject to be incredibly rewarding. He loves learning new things and enjoys getting to know his students and their interests. Alex lives in Fremont where he spends his free time playing games, solving puzzles, hiking, and rock climbing.

Lydia Blair

Instructor
Lydia is a senior at Ballard High School. She loves calculus and enjoys finding ways to use math throughout all of the things she’s learning in school. She hopes to study engineering in the future and loves helping students understand and appreciate math. Outside of Mathnasium, Lydia is on the robotics team at Ballard, plays the flute, and crochets.

Mia Mozgovaya

Instructor
Mia is a junior at Ballard High School with aspirations in teaching. With a habit of taking several math courses at once, her passion has her on the road to mastering as much mathematics as she can. She has always been inspired by her amazing teachers and is thrilled to share the enthusiasm they gave her with the students at Mathnasium. Her hope is to give kids the tools they need to be confident and independent in the subject. Outside of math, Mia enjoys drawing, writing, and playing the guitar.
