Our Team

Sonal received a Master of Science degree in Chemistry from M.S. University, Baroda, India and an AMI Diploma from the Montessori Education Center of Arizona in Phoenix. She has been a teacher for more than 10 years in Montessori charter and private schools. Prior to that she worked in the Pharmaceutical industry. Sonal's desire to open a Mathnasium Learning Center stems from her life-long passion for teaching. She feels that the Mathnasium method is an outstanding way to teach children real-life math skills. It is systematically developed to present math to children in a way that makes sense to them, and it builds on a student's strengths and fills in their gaps to build a foundation to build upon. This foundation of mental math techniques and critical problem-solving skills will help the child in all walks of life. Sonal strongly believes that the Mathnasium method is a very valuable experience that will greatly benefit her two sons, ages 8 and 12, and she looks forward to providing the program for the children in the Ocotillo community.

Rikhit received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from St. Stephens College, Delhi, India and a Ph. D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston. He has over 15 years experience working in the semiconductor and magnetic data recording industries. His hobbies include travel, photography, good cuisine, and tinkering with computers and electronics. Rikhit has always believed that understanding math concepts is more valuable than memorizing algorithms. It leads to a deeper understanding of the subject matter and to a life-long retention of the knowledge. The Mathnasium method very elegantly explains math to children in a way that helps them grasp concepts almost without even realizing it. Rikhit's goal is to help children overcome their fears about math and see how beautiful it really is and how helpful it can be in all learning - in school and in everyday life.
