Jennifer Chevalier, Center Director/Owner
Owning a Mathnasium franchise has allowed Jennifer to pursue her love of mathematics and problem solving that started as she pursued her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary/Math and Reading Education from Eastern Washington University and earned her secondary endorsement in mathematics from Seattle University. Before pursuing a public school teaching career, Jennifer taught at preschool and college. After earning her Master's in Teaching degree from the Evergreen State College, she began teaching in secondary schools. Because of this, Jennifer is well aware of the struggle teachers face as they try to reach every child and the challenges they have to overcome while working to help every student learn. While in college, Jennifer worked as a math and reading tutor. She has taught for the Tumwater and Shelton school districts, as well as at Grays Harbor College in Aberdeen. Outside of Mathnasium, Jennifer has two children- one still at home in school and the other married, living out of state. Her youngest keeps her very busy with school, activities, and sports. She is also active in the community, sitting on several boards, including the Professional Education Advisory Board for Saint Martin's College and at The Evergreen Sportsmen's Club. Jennifer is very excited to help students both fill in the gaps that exist in their math foundations and help them progress in math in a way they will enjoy, using the Mathnasium method of developing number sense. She feels strongly that math skills are not only important from a technical standpoint, but also as a solid foundation of logic and problem solving skills that is not only relevant, but crucial to success in many disciplines. Her goal is to help your child become a strong independent math student and problem solver. Let Mathnasium help your student!
