Meet the Team at Mathnasium of Oviedo

Spencer Benner

Spencer attended the University of Central Florida where he completed his bachelor's degree in Art History. Prior to joining the Mathnasium team, Spencer tutored students for 2 years in high school and discovered his passion for teaching and connecting with students. He joined Mathnasium to continue teaching throughout his time in college. Since joining us, he has grown from instructor to Lead Instructor to Assistant Center Director, and now, to Center Director. He has built strong relationships with our students and families by building strong mathletes of all ages, growing our school and community partnerships and demonstrating how to make math make sense in fun, rewarding ways. Spencer is truly an example of how Mathnasium is changing lives through math.

Aris Stapleton

Aris is a former preschool teacher who loves working with children and has a passion for shaping their futures in the most positive way she can. During high school, she was captain of the Color Guard team where they won multiple state championships and were world finalists. Aris enjoys reading and writing, and in 2017 she got her Scuba Diving license and it has become one of her favorite activities to do. She believes that math is the foundational building block for educational and professional success and loves to help our children build confidence for all of their educational goals.

Vanessa

Vanessa is a current sophomore at the University of Central Florida and is studying Psychology-Neuroscience. She hopes to one day attend medical school and become a psychiatrist. Although she always loved school, math was always her favorite subject and enjoys bringing her passion to the children who come to Mathnasium. Apart from math and psychology, she also loves performing and went to a performing arts high school for musical theatre.

Steve & Sandy Massey

Hello. We are Steve and Sandy Massey, owners/operators of Mathnasium of Oviedo. Our relationship with Mathnasium began in 2012 when our son enrolled in Mathnasium to improve his Algebra skills. Our story may be similar to yours. After many evenings of ineffective homework help and frankly, lots of family stress, we went in search of math tutoring for our son. What we found was a math learning method that turned our son’s grades around in a few short months and profoundly spiked his overall confidence and interest in math. The Mathnasium method proved to be much more beneficial than one-on-one tutoring and improved our family life tremendously. We were so impressed with the Mathnasium model and the successful method of making math make sense that we open our first center in Oviedo in 2013. Today we love sharing the Mathnasium methods at four personally owned centers in Florida.

Linda Roberts

Linda grew up in Huntington, WV, and is an avid fan of Marshall University football (Go Herd!). She earned her B.A. in Philosophy from West Virginia University and M.B.A. from Averett University. She comes to us after an 18-year career in higher education, where she has served as a Dean, Executive Director of Adult Programs, and Campus President. She is excited to serve the Oviedo community and see children learn math while developing confidence each day. She has a nurturing approach to leadership and believes that the sky is truly the limit for all of our Mathnasium family!

Amanda Gisel

Amanda has been a part of the Mathnasium family since 2014. She enjoys bringing math knowledge, understanding, and fun to the local community. Amanda has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Central Florida and has years of experience working with schools, children, and education. Some of her favorite hobbies include watching TED Talks, traveling, and interacting with animals. Amanda loves working with children of all ages and watching the light bulb illuminate in their eyes when a concept "clicks" for them.

Juli Williams

Juli has been with Mathnasium since 2017, with 12 years of management experience and 10+ years of experience working with students. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marine Biology from Florida Atlantic University. She loves working with students of all ages, and often says she herself is a child at heart! Her hobbies include running, reading, and loving all things Disney.
