Center Director

Mathnasium is a math-only supplementary learning center teaching kids math in a way that make sense to them. Using the proprietary Mathnasium Method we offer customized learning plans for each student, whether they are far behind or already ahead in math.

Located in Point Loma’s beautiful and historic Liberty Station, our center is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Center Director to lead our team. This position will help oversee center operations, work with students and parents, and manage a team of instructors. The ideal candidate will be a bright and ambitious professional that is willing to work hard and change the way students view math. Candidates should be detailed minded, have good organizational skills, and be very enthusiastic about growing the center membership to its maximum potential. Responsibilities and Duties

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership, entrepreneurial, and organizational skills needed to successfully operate a learning center. These skills will include marketing, sales, instructional leadership, parent communication, staff management, and effective administration. Responsibilities will include:

  • Teach and mentor children, following Mathnasium’s methods and processes
  • Manage the center during instructional hours, including opening/closing center, managing staffing schedules, assigning students to instructors, and adjusting student/instructor ratios as necessary
  • Participate in business development initiatives, including regular school visits and participating in school and marketing events
  • Interact with parents and educators, building rapport and effectively conveying the benefits of Mathnasium and our commitment to help their student be successful in Math
  • Present a polished and compelling sales message to parents that results in student enrollment
  • Maintain CRM database/system
  • Make appropriate business-based decisions and resolve issues
  • Ensure that company policies, standards and procedures are followed
  • Additional functional managerial responsibilities that may be required from time to time

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience in teaching or tutoring K-12 students math
  • Experience supervising employees
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills; must be very enthusiastic, and have a positive personality
  • Some small business or sales experience is preferred
  • Four year degree, preferably in Education, Mathematics, Engineering, Business or a related field

Instructor

Located in Point Loma’s beautiful and historic Liberty Station, our center is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Math Instructor. This position provides exceptional customer service by building students’ confidence and self-esteem through successful encounters and interactions with carefully selected materials. Instructors must be passionate about math and have strong skills through Algebra I. Instructors who work with high school students must also excel in math through Algebra II, Trig, and higher math topics. Learn more about Mathnasium at www.mathnasium.com.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Teach mathematical concepts to students.
  • Monitor student performance or assist students in a learning center environment.
  • Provide feedback to students using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, and build confidence in students.
  • Monitor student behavior and intervene when appropriate to address any behavioral concerns or redirect attention back to course work.
  • Be reliable, responsible, and dependable in fulfilling assigned duties and obligations.
  • Grade and correct student assignments to provide feedback to students.
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
  • Participate in training and development sessions to improve instruction practices or learn new instruction techniques.
  • Flag, mark, write notes, and keep students' binders organized.
  • Use computers, primarily laptops, and tablets
