Our specially trained math instructors will teach your child how to understand math in an individual setting; our unique approach enables us to explain concepts really well and lend a helping hand to every student. Marielly Amarillas, Assistant Center Director
Marielly is a freshman at Chandler-Gilbert and is majoring in mechanical engineering. She would also like to double major with education. After working at Mathnasium for two years, she has concluded that she loves working with children and will someday like to become a third greade teacher utilizing her passion for math.
Wyatt Reinke, Lead Instructor
Wyatt is a senior at BASIS Mesa High School and has always had a passion for math. He has tutored math for students at school through his NHS membership, friends as an independent helper, as well as his own brothers. He will be attending NAU next Fall to begin a pre law course before going to ASU to attend law school.
Harrison Case, Instructor
Harrison is a senior at Benjamin Franklin High School who enjoys math. He takes several AP classes and also participates in sports, such as baseball and basketball. Harrison plans on attending ASU and graduating with a degree in accounting.
Jeff Unsworth, Instructor
Jeff is a senior at Red Mountain High School. He enjoys the challeges of math classes and helping others to succeed. After graduation he is planning on attending ASU and to earn a degree in engneering. Jeff enjoys working with kids having previous experence as a gymnastics coach and loves to see them succeed.
Jason Svedin, Instructor
Jason is orginally from Palmer, Alaska and moved to the Valley of the Sun in 2009. Jason and his wife have three relatively young children (the oldest is in first grade), and they love Arizona! Mathnasium is his second job, he currently work as a high school AP calculus and physics teacher. He is very happy that he started working at Mathnasium because his co-workers are very all friendly, the curriculum is solid, and all the families that come in have interest in getting better with their math skills. He finds himself using some of the mental math techniques in his own classes when he finds that my own students have gaps in what they know or need additional problem-solving strategies.
Lauren Pack, Instructor
Lauren is a senior at Higley High School. She loves working with kids, and is very passionate about math. She is taking 4 AP classes, participates in several service clubs (such as NHS and Key Club), and plays varsity tennis for Higley. When she graduates she plans on majoring in international studies with a minor in business or economics. She hopes to be able to spread her enthusiam of mathemathics with others at Mathnasium!
Harrison Nevels, Instructor
Harrison is a senior at Higley High School. He has had a love for math ever since he was a young child. He is involved at Higley, a 2nd year varsity volleyball player, as well as the treasurer of Higley's Knight Crew, a club to help freshman adjust to high school. Upon graduation Harrison plans on serving a 2 year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, after which he plans on attending BYU and majoring in Mathematics: Applied and Computational Mathematics Emphasis. He enjoys spreading his love for math to everyone at Mathnasium!
Karen Lossing, Owner
Karen is the owner of Mathnasium of Queen Creek as of April 1, 2018. Prior to Mathnasium ownership, Karen worked as a 3rd, 5th, and Special Education teacher, math curriculum writer, and elementary school administrator, focusing on 21st Century learning. Karen has always loved math, and upon relocating from Texas to California, jumped at the opportunity to spend her day working with kids to make them more successful in the subject. Karen is enthusiastic about her team helping children in the Queen Creek community to truly understand math by teaching it in a way that makes sense to them. Libby, Director of Operations
After a couple years of being a seasonal Mathnasium instructor, Libby graduated from UCLA in March 2017 and has joined onto our team as the Director of Operations. While she is no stranger to the instruction and tutoring aspects of our center, Libby focuses on the community involvement side of our center. So if you have any school events or sponsorship opportunities you would like Mathnasium of Queen Creek to be involved in, Libby is your girl!
Education: Bachelor's Degree from UCLA; graduated high school in Texas
