18% - as service industry tip expectations have continued to creep up over the years (remember when a 10% tip on a meal was considered the appropriate tip for really good service!), it seems that we could have centered on something a little easier to calculate than 18%. Twenty percent would be easier to calculate for most people. Most people that aren’t in the service industry probably wish we could go back to the easier days of 10%! Since numbers like 18% tend to scare most of us off, we now have a myriad of other methods and "apps" to calculate tips! Mathnasium: Building math confidence one student at a time By Tisha Marie Pelletier Ask any student what their least favorite subject is in school and the answer you’re bound to hear is a resounding “Math!” Ask them why and they’ll say, “I just don’t get it.” Lucky for these students, there is a solution. Mathnasium, located in the Safeway Plaza off Power Road and Queen Creek, opened in August 2009 and helps students with math and only math. Owned and operated by Rick Davis and his wife Jeanie, it has seven highly-skilled math instructors, including Rick’s daughters Ashlyn and Kiera, ready to help your child overcome their math challenges.
