Mike Hutchison, Center Director
Born in an Army family, I was born in Germany, but I grew up in Florida. I received both my B.A. in Economics and my M.A.T. in Math Education. I taught math at an Orlando charter school for two years before beginning at Mathnasium. I tutored in Orlando for a year and a half before moving here to L.A and taking higher positions within Mathnasium. I love acting, movies, music, sports, and of course math. Education has always been a positive part of my life and I love sharing that with young people. I love the outdoors and the California lifestyle.
Angie, Assistant Director
Born and raised in Southern California, Angie recently graduated with her Associates in Robotics and Bachelors in Electronics Engineering from Johnson & Wales in Providence, Rhode Island. She interned at Hasbro and Make Magazine and previously tutored for the Engineering Department in college. In her spare time, Angie loves playing trivia, rock climbing, yoga, and watching movies.
Rodolfo graduated from University of California, Irvine with a B.S. in Education Sciences and currently lives in Wilmington, CA. Originally he entered college as a mechanical engineering major but soon changed to an education major after realizing he has a passion for teaching, especially math. Ever since then he is committed to improving children’s’ academic abilities and strives to make personal impacts with those he teach. In his spare time he is an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction, loves to keep his body active through running, cycling, and body-weight exercises, and loves to go hiking.
Lucas was born and raised in Manhattan Beach, California, where he first discovered his affinity for math and science while excelling in these courses in high school. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor’s degree in Science-Business and is currently on a leave of absence from medical school. Lucas began tutoring high school underclassmen as a high school senior and continued to tutor elementary and middle school children throughout college. During this time, he also created and taught a Spanish course and served as an instructor for a science and engineering summer academy. Lucas’s value of learning and knowledge drives him to keep teaching. Recently, Lucas has also rekindled his insatiable curiosity about math and its applications outside of the classroom. Together, his passion for learning and his enthusiasm for mathematics excite him to make math fun and accessible to others. In his spare time, Lucas loves playing sports - soccer above all - and reading about topics that interest him deeply.
David is a high school senior who was born and raised in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. He has had a strong interest in math ever since he began taking accelerated math classes in middle school. He plans to pursue a degree in Computer Science at Fordham University in New York, NY. In his free time he enjoys playing video games, learning new languages of code and relaxing with family and friends.
