Nick, Assistant Director
Nick Kotelko has loved math since he could remember. As a student growing up right here in Southern California, he always enjoyed the thrill of solving puzzles, and finding different solutions to problems in math and in other situations in life. This passion led him to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematical Sciences from UC Santa Barbara in 2007. Go Gauchos! It was while at University that he developed a passion for helping eager young minds to excel at math. He began instructing local students, and together he found ways to discover the wonders of objective problem solving. Working with many students since then, it became abundantly clear that math can be excelled at by anyone with the will to succeed.

In his spare time he is an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction, loves to keep his body active through running, cycling, and body-weight exercises, and loves to go hiking.
Lucas was born and raised in Manhattan Beach, California, where he first discovered his affinity for math and science while excelling in these courses in high school. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor’s degree in Science-Business and is currently on a leave of absence from medical school. Lucas began tutoring high school underclassmen as a high school senior and continued to tutor elementary and middle school children throughout college. During this time, he also created and taught a Spanish course and served as an instructor for a science and engineering summer academy. Lucas’s value of learning and knowledge drives him to keep teaching. Recently, Lucas has also rekindled his insatiable curiosity about math and its applications outside of the classroom. Together, his passion for learning and his enthusiasm for mathematics excite him to make math fun and accessible to others. In his spare time, Lucas loves playing sports - soccer above all - and reading about topics that interest him deeply.
