Our Team

Our specially trained math instructors will teach your child how to understand math in an individual setting; our unique approach enables us to explain concepts really well and lend a helping hand to every student. Our tutors foster a caring, encouraging environment that helps kids thrive and learn! Read below to learn more about our talented team:

CenterDirectorLori Kim, Center Director 

Lori is the Center Director at Mathnasium of South Costa Mesa. Prior to opening her Mathnasium center, Lori was a full time homemaker and mom raising three teenage girls. She has a BA in Anthropology from the University of California at Berkeley.  

Having struggled with her own child in math, Lori enrolled her daughter in Mathnasium which ended the homework wars. Witnessing the success of the Mathnasium Method in her own child, she is passionate about teaching other children of all ages how to make math make sense. She firmly believes that every child has the ability to succeed in math and become problem solvers once they understand the concepts.  In her spare time, Lori loves to travel and explore different regions of the globe with her husband and three children.

 

 Courtney, Assistant Director/Lead Instructor

Courtney is the Assistant Director here at Mathnasium of South Costa Mesa. She is majoring in Applied Mathematics at Biola University and is hoping to go into teaching once she recieves her B.S. and single-subject teaching credentials. From a young age Courtney has enjoyed learning how to solve new problems, and she spent most of her childhood summers teaching herself new math skills.

She has been tutoring kids and peers in math for about 10 years now and finds nothing quite as joyful as watching kids gain confidence in their math abilities as they learn and understand new concepts. In her spare time, she spends time with friends and family, goes to the gym, hikes, and continues to teach herself new math concepts.

 

 

 Negar, Instructor 

Negar has B.S in Materials Science and Engineering. She is planning to continue her education in engineering.  In addition to tutoring at Mathnasium, she wants to work in engineering field.  Negar loves math and she likes to pass her knowledge to others.  When she was a high school student, she tutored students and helped them to raise their grades in various subjects including math.  In her spare time, she enjoys playing piano, going to the gym and hanging out with her family and friends.

 

 

 

Niloofar, Instructor 

Niloofar has B.S in Materials Science and Engineering and she is going to get her masters in engineering as well. She would like to obtain a career in the engineering industry along with tutoring at Mathnasium.  She has always enjoyed studying mathematics.  When she was a high school student, she tutored children in various subjects including math.  In her spare time, she enjoys hanging out with friends and family, playing piano and going to the gym.

 

 

 

 

Calvin, Instructor 

Calvin is currently working on a transfer program at Orange Coast College to obtain a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences.  In addition to his passion for medicine, he enjoys working with kids. He also takes joy in problem solving and helping others see new perspectives in different situations.  In his spare time, he enjoys reading a good story, listening to music, and trying new foods. 

 

 

          

 

 Brad, Instructor 

Brad currently has an associate degree in math, science, and music. His next goal is to get a bachelors in engineering. With math being Brad's favorite subject, helping students succeed in math has always been a passion for him. In his spare time, he enjoys snowboarding, playing drums, and exploring new places.

 

 

 

 

Daniel, Instructor 

Daniel has long known math's importance to a successful and rewarding education. Though he went to college to study biology, he has a respect and knowledge for math up to the level of single variable Calculus. Daniel is eager to show students the irresistable logic that prevades math in order to help them achieve their math goals.
