Our specially trained math instructors will teach your child how to understand math in an individual setting; our unique approach enables us to explain concepts really well and lend a helping hand to every student. Owner/Center DirectorDeb Cusatis, Center Director/Owner

Deborah Cusatis earned a B.S. in Biology ('90) and a Ph.D. in Nutrition ('94) from Penn State University. She also earned an M.D. from the Penn State Hershey College of Medicine ('99). Deb and Patrick have been Central Pennsylvania residents for more than 25 years. They have two children who attend high school in State College. Having studied science and medicine, Deb has a great appreciation of mathematics. She feels that Mathnasium offers great programs to build confidence in students by advancing their math skills.

 

Owner/Center DirectorPatrick Cusatis, Owner

Patrick Cusatis earned a B.S. and Ph.D. in Finance from Penn State University ('88,'92). He was an investment banker for Lehman Brothers and a portfolio manager for Corestates Bank, First Union Capital Markets and Tucker Anthony Sutro. He is currently an Associate Professor of Finance at Penn State Harrisburg. Patrick has always had an appreciation of mathematics, stemming from his college studies and involvement in the financial markets. He stresses the importance of good math skills to his current college students. Without strong technical skills, it is difficult to compete in the job market. He's excited to bring the Mathnasium method to the children of the State College area.

 

Auburn Lattanzio, Lead Instructor

Auburn Lattanzio recently graduated from Penn State with a B.S. in Mathematics and a minor in Psychology.  She is from Kennett Square, PA -- the mushroom capital of the world -- but grew up in Western Europe and has traveled to many different countries. Auburn loves to ski and play guitar.

 

 

 

Stephanie Baker, Instructor

Steph is a 2013 graduate of Penn State with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.  After two years of working in industry, Steph is excited for the opportunity to work as an instructor at Mathnasium.  She is originally from Hastings, PA, and in her spare time likes to attend Penn State sporting events.

 
 

 

Devren Yener, Instructor

Devren holds degrees in Mathematics and Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and is pursuing a graduate degree in Engineering Mechanics at Penn State. In addition to his work at Mathnasium, he teaches Computer Science at St. Joseph's Catholic Academy in Boalsburg, PA, and directs a choir, the Saint Benedict Schola Cantorum.  Devren has a great love of math and problem solving, and is profoundly grateful for the opportunity to share his enthusiasm with the students at Mathnasium.

 

 Elizabeth Hansen, Instructor

Elizabeth Hansen graduated from Penn State with a degree in Outdoor Recreation Management in 2013. After a few years in the field, she decided to return to an earlier dream of teaching mathematics.  She recently graduated from the Secondary Mathematics Education program at Lock Haven University, and she is currentlly a math teacher at Bellefonte Area High School.  In her leisure time, Elizabeth loves hiking and sharing time with her 4 cats, 3 horses, and 2 fish.

 

Emma Kesidis, Instructor

Emma Kesidis is a senior at Penn State majoring inath.  After graduating next Spring, Emma is moving to Arkansas to spend two years teaching high school math as a 2018 Teach for America corps member.  In her free time, Emma likes to make cards, play piano, and practice yoga. 

 

 

Corey Moletsky, Instructor

 

Corey is a senior at Penn State. He is majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and is currently conducting undergraduate research on antibiotic resistance in bacteria. After graduating, he plans on attending dental school and pursuing a career in cosmetic dentistry. When he’s not in the Lab he loves watching Penn State football, snowboarding, and volunteering with the Discovery Space afterschool program in State College.

 

Gerald Hinerman, Instructor

Gerald Hinerman is a senior at Penn State majoring in Mathematics and minoring in Physics. After graduation, Gerald plans to pursue a graduate degree in Math and teach at a university. Gerald is originally from Belle Vernon, PA, outside of Pittsburgh. He is a member of Penn State's Math Club and has hobbies in music and performing magic.

 

 

 Matt Gormley, Instructor

Matt is a senior at Penn State University double majoring in Secondary Education Math as well as Mathematics. After graduating, Matt plans to teach high school Math and coach men’s lacrosse. Matt is from Philadelphia, PA, and is a die-hard Philly sports fan. Outside of the classroom you can catch Matt at a Penn State football game or eating a burrito at Chipotle.

 

 

  Ashley Brandon, Instructor

Ashley is a junior at Penn State majoring in Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Physics.  After graduating, she hopes to transition directly into a graduate program where she can pursue research in space systems and sapececraft dynamics. Ashley is originally from Pitcairn, PA, and she enjoys spending time with her three dogs, hiking, and playing violin.

 

 

Melissa Ling, Instructor

 

Melissa is from Downingtown, PA.  She is a sophomore at Penn State University majoring in Biomedical Engineering with a possible minor in Chinese.  In her free time, she loves to read and play piano.  After graduating, she hopes to either attend medical school or to pursue research in graduate school.
