Deb Cusatis, Center Director/Owner
Deborah Cusatis earned a B.S. in Biology ('90) and a Ph.D. in Nutrition ('94) from Penn State University. She also earned an M.D. from the Penn State Hershey College of Medicine ('99). Deb and Patrick have been Central Pennsylvania residents for more than 25 years. They have two children who attend high school in State College. Having studied science and medicine, Deb has a great appreciation of mathematics. She feels that Mathnasium offers great programs to build confidence in students by advancing their math skills.
Patrick Cusatis, Owner
Patrick Cusatis earned a B.S. and Ph.D. in Finance from Penn State University ('88,'92). He was an investment banker for Lehman Brothers and a portfolio manager for Corestates Bank, First Union Capital Markets and Tucker Anthony Sutro. He is currently an Associate Professor of Finance at Penn State Harrisburg. Patrick has always had an appreciation of mathematics, stemming from his college studies and involvement in the financial markets. He stresses the importance of good math skills to his current college students. Without strong technical skills, it is difficult to compete in the job market. He's excited to bring the Mathnasium method to the children of the State College area.
Stephanie Baker, Lead Instructor
Steph is a 2013 graduate of Penn State with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. After two years of working in industry, Steph is excited for the opportunity to be the Lead Instructor at Mathnasium. She is originally from Hastings, PA and in her spare time likes to attend Penn State sporting events.
Jeremy Sechrist, Instructor
Jeremy is a junior at Penn State. He is majoring in secondary education and is completing a chemistry minor. Jeremy is from Shrewsbury, PA, just north of the Mason-Dixon Line between Harrisburg and Baltimore.When he isn't in class or at the Mathnasium, Jeremy spends most of his time playing the trumpet in the Penn State Blue Band, so if you're ever at a football game, he'd love to say hi and play for you!
Devren Yener, Instructor
Devren holds degrees in Mathematics and Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and is pursuing a graduate degree in Engineering Mechanics at Penn State. In addition to his work at Mathnasium, he teaches Computer Science at St. Joseph's Catholic Academy in Boalsburg, PA, and directs a choir, the Saint Benedict Schola Cantorum. Devren has a great love of math and problem solving, and is profoundly grateful for the opportunity to share his enthusiasm with the students at Mathnasium.
Elizabeth Hansen, Instructor
Elizabeth Hansen graduated from Penn State with a degree in Outdoor Recreation Management in 2013. After a few years in the field, she decided to return to an earlier dream of teaching mathematics. She currently studies in the Secondary Mathematics Education program at Lock Haven University. In her leisure time, Elizabeth loves hiking and sharing time with her 4 cats, 3 horses, and 2 fish.
Auburn Lattanzio, Instructor
Auburn Lattanzio is a Junior at Penn State majoring in Mathematics with a minor in Psychology. She is from Kennett Square, PA -- the mushroom capital of the world -- but grew up in Western Europe and has traveled to many different countries. Auburn loves to ski and play guitar.
Erin Gray, Instructor
Erin is a senior at Penn State majoring in Secondary Education Mathematics. She is from Kent, Ohio near LeBron James' hometown. In her free time, Erin likes baking, running, and hiking.
Corey Moletsky, Instructor
Corey is a junior at Penn State. He is majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and is currently conducting undergraduate research on antibiotic resistance in bacteria. After graduating, he plans on attending dental school and pursuing a career in cosmetic dentistry. When he’s not in the Lab he loves watching Penn State football, snowboarding, and volunteering with the Discovery Space afterschool program in state college.
Gerald Hinerman, Instructor
Gerald Hinerman is a junior at Penn State majoring in Mathematics and minoring in Physics. After graduation, Gerald plans to pursue a graduate degree in Math and teach at a university. Gerald is originally from Belle Vernon, PA outside of Pittsburgh. He is a member of Penn State's Math club and has hobbies in music and performing magic.
Kayla Paulosky, Instructor
Kayla Paulosky is a senior at Penn State majoring in Immunology and Infectious Disease with a minor in Global Health. After graduation, Kayla will be applying to medical school. At Penn State she is involved in various clubs and researches in a malaria lab. She loves tutoring students and is excited to work at Mathnasium
