Our Team

Jim received a bachelor of science in mathematics from the University of South Dakota and a master of arts in teaching from Duke University. He also studied information systems analysis and design at the University of Minnesota.

Before opening a Mathnasium Learning Center, Jim had many years of experience in a variety of fields, beginning with a 3-year stint in the Peace Corps, teaching math and science in Uganda and Liberia. He later spent 30 years in Information Technology, including 15 years as an independent consultant to Fortune 500 companies. He also served as an instructor in the masters program at Metropolitan State University in St. Paul.

Jim decided to open a Mathnasium Learning Center because he wanted to return to his first career and first passion – that of teaching mathematics to children and helping them succeed in school and life by understanding math. He’s excited to offer the Mathnasium program to children in St. Paul.
