As our innovative learning centers are expanding, we have several new positions available immediately for highly skilled and motivated people with strong math-related backgrounds and excellent communication skills.

ABOUT MATHNASIUM: Mathnasium is distinguished for exceptional instruction and its entirely customized learning plans tailored to the specific needs of each student. Known as the Mathnasium Method®, each student's individual strengths and current knowledge gaps are assessed to provide expert one-on-one teaching through a completely personalized math program. To complement and support the regular academic studies of our students, we provide math tutoring, enrichment and academic support at both our Chatham and Summit centers, in a group or private setting.
Mathematics Instructor
Mathnasium instructors teach students in grades 2 through 12, and must be fluent with math including elementary and middle school math, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry and, ideally, calculus and statistics. Candidates must be available to work consistently (at least through June 2012). Pay is determined by education level attained and availability to work. Paid training is provided.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A degree in math or a related field (e.g. Physics, Engineering, Economics, Finance, etc.)
- Excellent academic credentials (official transcript must be provided) and obvious passion for mathematics
- Excellent communication skills, with a sense of humor and an upbeat demeanor
- An open mind readily able to learn new teaching methods
- Ability to work well with students of all ages
- Availability a minimum of two days per week, between the hours of 3pm–9pm (Mon-Thurs), 9am–3pm (Sat), and 3pm–9pm (Sun).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instructing 2nd through 12th grade students, guiding and checking work, and fostering success
- Bringing math to life for students at a variety of mathematics skill levels
- Explaining and illustrating math topics using a variety of strategies and techniques
- Assisting center administrator to maintain a clean, organized and productive learning environment
HOURS:
- 8-30+ hours/week (consistent hours are available, work schedule may be tailored to individual availability)

Center Administrator / Bookkeeper
Our center administrator / bookkeeper manages the flow of all critical center information, from client and employee records and schedules through to financial documents and reports. The successful candidate will inherently be able to see both the big picture and its underlying details, striving to maximize the efficiency and integrity of our business methodologies. To this end, candidates must demonstrate both comfort and competency using a variety of business programs, including office productivity and database applications, financial accounting software, data security software, and software development tools.
Due to the highly sensitive nature of the information involved, the center administrator/bookkeeper must have a proven record of discretion and compliance concerning confidential data. As an administrator, he or she also coordinates administrative functions and performs tasks such as registering new clients, scheduling staff, tracking enrollment and memberships, maintaining / enhancing business processes, and resolving issues. As a bookkeeper, he or she will be responsible for managing payroll, billing, generating and assisting with the auditing of management reports, and maintaining tax compliance. The successful candidate will be highly organized, personable, reliable, trustworthy and motivated to execute tasks independently while coordinating efforts appropriately with other center staff.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A Bachelors Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance
- Excellent academic credentials (official transcript must be provided)
- Excellent technology skills: able to quickly grasp and incorporate proprietary applications and new business methodologies
- Comprehensive knowledge of accounting and auditing principles: A/P, A/R, payroll, general ledger postings, invoicing, taxation issues, and regulatory compliance guidelines
- Expertise in developing and delivering monthly, quarterly, and annual Profit and Loss statements and Balance Sheets for Management within strict deadlines
- Keen ability to analyze cash flow and implement cost control, providing timely and frequent financial information that supports business goals and objectives
- Experience with QuickBooks, OpenOffice Writer (MS Word), OpenOffice Calc (MS Excel) and OpenOffice Base (MS Access)
- Extensive knowledge of spreadsheet programming & automation (Calc/Excel)
- Solid communications skills, able to clearly and concisely interact in English, both verbally and in writing
- Excellent interpersonal skills and able to provide top-notch customer service at all times
- A meticulous, detail-oriented personality able to respect and keep all business and customer matters strictly confidential
- Comfortable performing several tasks concurrently, with ease and professionalism
- Prior work experience in a educational/school environment is a definite plus
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintaining and synchronizing our client data in OpenOffice, SalesForce and QuickBooks
- Identifying and implementing process improvements; streamlining business procedures to increase center efficiency and productivity
- Aiding center scheduling for students, instructors, and other staff
- Coordinating with our Center Director to review staff time sheets and process bi-weekly payroll
- Managing A/R and A/P; tracking membership billing status, calling overdue accounts, processing payments, managing vendors and resolving issues
- Creating monthly, quarterly and annual management reports
- Filing requisite local, state, and federal business and taxation reports
- Auditing the integrity, compliance and security of all client and financial data
- Providing administrative support to our Center Director
- Assisting with process and application programming/automation using development tools such as VBA, C++, C#, and/or Java
HOURS:
- 30 hours/week (part time)
