Our Team
John Opalko earned a degree in Applied Math from the University of South Carolina. He taught high school mathematics for two years in Niger, West Africa, as a Peace Corps Volunteer. John has 17 years of experience in the software technology business, including ten years as a consultant with Microsoft. John is an avid endurance runner and has completed several 100-mile races. John and his wife Jane have two children.
Jane Opalko earned degrees in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Washington. She taught high school physics and chemistry for two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Niger, West Africa. She loves horses and is a certified riding instructor.
Dave brings extensive math training from his chemical engineering background with over 20 years in the petroleum industry with Kerr McGee and Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. Having home educated his daughter from grades one through twelve, he has been very active in the home school community. Dave’s love for baseball has been immortalized as he was ‘cast in bronze’ as the catcher in the statue greeting visitors at the Softball Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City.
Carol is a graduate of Texas A&M with a degree in Accounting. She has eleven years of experience working in the Financial Dept. of a manufacturing company. For the last two school years, she has been tutoring elementary students in math and reading for the Conroe Independent School District.
Jeannine is a graduate of Sam Houston State with a degree in Business Administration. Jeannine was a teacher at Oak Ridge Christian Academy and also worked as a long-term math substitute teacher with the Conroe Independent School District.
Robin is retired from the software industry where he spent over 20 years in sales and sales management. Robin has a degree in math and enjoys teaching. He has taught Sunday school for eight years and coached soccer for eleven years.
Maureen has a degree in Math from the University of Texas. She has taught Algebra at Klein High School and is currently working on a Masters in Math Education at Sam Houston State University.
Susan has a BS in Education and Math from the University of Texas at Austin. Susan has thirty-two years of teaching sixth, seventh and eighth grade mathematics to all ability-level students in the Austin and Houston areas and twenty years of coaching middle school students in University Interscholastic League math events.
Loretta has an engineering background with degrees from Drexel University and North Carolina State University. She developed a love of teaching children after working for the American school of Doha in Qatar. Upon her return to the states she earned her teaching certification in math. She has taught Algebra 1 at Atascosita High School and currently acts as a substitute teacher for Conroe ISD.
Stephen is an Algebra and Geometry teacher at Conroe High School and has a Math Education degree from Sam Houston State University where he was the winner of the Outstanding Math Student Award in his Junior year. He has been a math tutor since 1998 and was the number sense coach for three years at Conroe High School.
Beverly has several years experience in the prosthetic field and enjoys helping others. She has a degree in mathematics and enjoys working where she can make a difference. Beverly is also a part-time pediatric hearing screener at Memorial Hermann. She spends her spare time playing with her two Yorkies and remodeling her home.
Rupa has a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and has worked as an editor of elementary and high school math textbooks in Sigapore. Rupa has also worked as a math teacher in the local Conroe ISD schools.
