Rangu Mandyam, Center Director
Rangu has a passion for teaching and her experiences are rich and varied. She has taught biology at a community college and science at a junior high school. She has extensive volunteering experience at a Sunday school, teaching singing to children.

With a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Botany from India, and a Master's degree in Molecular Biology from Canada, Rangu worked for a couple of years in research institutes in Canada and the United States and then joined a biotechnology company near Los Angeles. After working there for nearly ten years with positions of increasing responsibilities, Rangu took over Mathnasium of Thousand Oaks and more recently opened Mathnasium of Oak Park.

Rangu feels it is extremely important to give children a strong foundation in math education and she is excited to make a positive difference in children's lives through Mathnasium. She receives a great deal of support from her husband Dr. Radhakrishna Mandyam who holds a PhD. in Materials Science and helps her with many aspects of running a successful learning center.
Suzanne May, Instructor
Suzanne May: Suzanne May has been teaching math for over 30 years, in different parts of the nation and finds teaching the most rewarding work she has ever done. She has taught in public, private, parochial and charter schools and home-schooled her own children. She finds the Mathnasium curriculum systematic and says it fills in the missing pieces in a student's math and number sense. She enjoys working with students of all grade levels and has a lot of fun teaching in particular the First Steps program to younger children.
Jonathan Detgen, Instructor
Jonathan has a master's degree in Mathematics from Cal State Channel Islands. In addition to teaching at Mathnasium, he teaches several college math classes for Cal Lutheran University and University of La Verne. He enjoys helping people feel confident with math, whether they are in elementary school or coming back to school after many years.
Dev Ananda, Instructor
Dev has lived in Southern California for most of his life, and received a BA in Political Science at University of California, Berkeley. After traveling to India to work for a year, he began an MS in Mathematics at California State University, Channel Islands. His current thesis work is in Radio Labeling, a subdiscipline of Abstract Graph Theory. He loves teaching and tutoring, and is currently a tutor for High-school mathematics, as well as standardized exam preparation. Dev says, "Mathematics is one of the most interesting intellectual endeavors because it involves taking abstract concepts that we are taught when we are young and constantly building them up into varying meanings that often overlap. Realizing how some simple tools that we are given can lead to so many avenues of understanding is a captivating experience, and helping children learn how to conceive of these basic ideas and construct useful ideas of their own, and on their own, is rejuvenating unto itself and I revel in such work..."
