LOCAL TRIMATHLON DAY COMPETITION WINNERS ANNOUNCED
Math Competition for Kids in 3rd-6th Grade Held at
Mathnasium of Westminster
Westminster, CO (May 21, 2011) – Mathnasium of Westminster today announced the winners of its TriMathlon Day math competition. The competition for 3rd-6th graders was held in conjunction with Mathnasium Learning Center’s National TriMathlon Day, created to generate excitement about math among kids. National Winners received honors and more than $10,000 in cash prizes.
Local participants included students from Century Middle School, Rocky Top Middle School, Mountain View Elementary, Eagleview Elementary, Hulstrom Options, and Henderson Elementary. Students answered questions like: A number that is the product of exactly two primes has exactly how many factors? Answer: 4
The local winners are:
3rd Grade—1st Place: Gregory Natvig, St. Johns;
2nd Place: Grace Baker, Jarrow Montessori;
3rd Place: Sydney Brooker, Boulder Country Day
4th Grade—1st Place: Aidan Floyd, Hulstrom Options;
2nd Place: Al, Haddad, Mountain View Elementary;
3rd Place: Jimmy Darschew, Henderson Elementary
5th Grade—1st Place: Tyler Harmon, Mountain View Elementary;
2nd Place: Alec Reid, Mountain View Elementary;
3rd Place: Adam Sewald, Mountain View Elementary
6th Grade—1st Place: Tyler Perlmutter, Louisville Middle School;
2nd Place: Karthik Subramaniam, Century Middle School;
3rd Place: Tanner Price, Century Middle School
“Congratulations to the TriMathlon winners and all of the participants,” said Debra Wolfe, Owner, Mathnasium of Westminster. “We posted amazing results with 12% of our competitors who scored in the top 2% nationally, 18% scored in top 10% nationally and 48% scored in the top 75%. We hope this competition was a fun and rewarding experience that continues to strengthen their passion for math.”
