Rajani Karla, Director

Mathnasium Master Certified
Rajani has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Master's degree in Mathematics from Kakatiya University, India. She has always loved teaching and began her career by teaching math and computers to high school and college students. Later, she joined her husband in the IT field, working as an Oracle programmer. It was her passion for teaching, however, and an urge to help kids academically that forced her to explore educational opportunities.

Rajani is fascinated by the Mathnasium method and just can't believe how close Mathnasium's principles are to her own. She strongly believes that everyone can excel in math, provided it's taught in the right manner. She considers teaching to be the most challenging, but also the most important, job, and is proud to bring Mathnasium to her own young children as well as to the city of San Antonio. This is her second Mathnasium location and she is thrilled to be offering Mathnasium to the students and families of in the surrounding areas.

Jason Power, Lead Instructor
Jason earned his Bachelor's degree in Physics and is enrolled in a Master's degree granting teacher certification program from University of Texas, San Antonio. Having tutored classmates and other students mathematics and physics personally and professionally throughout college is what led him to Mathnasium - where mathematics is the focus. It is the Mathnasium method, though, that makes it especially rewarding. The Mathnasium commitment to the student's success, and its very well designed and thought-out program have been a remarkable fit for Jason's own teaching philosophy. Jason is proud to work for the families and students of San Antonio where his love for math can really become infectious. Jason strongly believes that math can be very enjoyable; further, certainly every student - at any age - can excel in this oft unappreciated subject with an understanding and knowledgeable guide to find their success.
James Randy Reynolds, Instructor
Son of a fighter pilot, Randy has always been fascinated by airplanes and flying. An interest in physics and math came with this fascination and became his favorite subjects throughout his schooling. He went to Clark High School and received Who’s Who recognition in both Junior and Senior years. Randy attended college at The University of Texas at Austin, majoring in Electrical Engineering and focusing on Markov Radio Wave Propagation. He then transferred to the University of North Texas, outside Dallas, where he graduated with a B.A. Playing guitar and piano are some of Randy’s favorite things to do, along with building websites, reading, and mountain climbing. Randy enjoys interaction with people of all ages, and when he discovered Mathnasium he found a perfect fit for him and his passion for math and for teaching. Randy says, “I couldn’t be happier doing what I do, and I see the same enthusiasm in the students as they delve into the learning experience. The curriculum is solid and the abundance of material that is presented in a variety of formats makes it challenging and fun at the same time.”
Trudy Heard, Instructor
Trudy grew up in Massachusetts where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Fitchburg State College. She then moved to College Station to attend Texas A&M University where she earned a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering. Soon after graduation, she married an Army Officer and began her engineering career at Kelly Air Force Base. After seven years, two military moves, and the birth of two children, she left engineering to focus on her growing family and their military community. Trudy has volunteered with schools, scouts and churches; and worked as a substitute teacher and Girl Scout recruiter. After her husband retired from the military, Trudy was looking for an opportunity where she could make a positive impact in the community while allowing her some scheduling flexibility. “When I discovered Mathnasium, I knew this was the opportunity I had been looking for. I enjoy math, but know that it can be extremely daunting to some people. The customized learning plans, solid explanation of concepts, and variety of formats used in the Mathnasium method ensure that every student is able to learn and is challenged to reach a deeper level of understanding. Best of all, Mathnasium is a fun environment for both students and instructors.”
